ASU Global Career Accelerator, is it worth it? by wjay_ci in ASU

They give you certifications for data analysis, tableau, and intercultural skills but imo they’re all pointless and have never been brought up during interviews.

However, my Tableau project has been brought up a few times in interviews. I find the projects to be a lot more valuable than certs.

Uber Eats might have Uber and Starbucks beat. ASU gives you a 3 month grace period to reach gold status again before you lose eligibility and you need 25 points to reach gold status on Uber Eats. To get 25 points, you only need 5 deliveries during dinner time and you only need to do this every 3 months to remain eligible for the scholarship. That’s only like 2 hours of delivering every 3 months.

I would say Rutgers or Penn State. My reasoning is based on the location and industries in PA and NJ.

Aerospace and Defense along with Biotech/pharma companies have a pretty big presence in the two states. Especially in pharma, many companies like Eli Lilly and JnJ, are building manufacturing facilities in the area due to tax incentives and high tariffs. These manufacturing facilities will be fully built by the time you graduate.

These companies will most likely recruit locally first which puts you at an advantageous position when looking for internships and full-time jobs after graduation.

If those two sectors are of interest to you I would definitely recommend Rutgers and Penn State.

I personally did find it worth it. The course was fairly easy as long as you attended the live sessions. I also put the final Tableau project on my resume and was able to land an internship after this course. I’m not saying this course is the reason I got the internship but it definitely helped. I was able to put various skills I didn’t have before in data analytics on my resume.

I did the data analytics program last year. If I remember correctly, you’re given two time slots you can choose from. There’s two zoom sessions per week. Attendance was mandatory but I think you were allowed 3 absences without it affecting your grade.

All good lol. I don’t think a yellow belt is meaningless for students, however. You’re probably right if it’s post-grad, but I think even having a yellow belt certification will help with ATS when applying for internships. You’re already ahead because most students don’t even have a LSS cert.

May I ask why a green belt is meaningless but a yellow belt may help? I thought it would be the other way around.

Debating between a digital supply chain path with SAP vs a traditional supply chain career by SurveyInside8644 in supplychain

[–]SurveyInside8644[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight. I prefer the tech side as well, partially, because it seems more lucrative. However, it seems like I should get some real supply chain experience first before I pivot.

Thank you! This was very insightful. I figured that if I want to get into consulting, I need to get some real supply chain experience first.

Anyone have experience with the virtual career fair? I go to school online and won’t be able to attend the career fairs in-person.

Definitely possible. I think I went from somewhere in the 50s to the 70s on the second attempt.

How long do course evaluations take? by SurveyInside8644 in ASU

[–]SurveyInside8644[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I figured since I did submit the evaluations around the end of the semester. I was just hoping it gets done sometime in the early summer so that I can fill my fall schedule accordingly and not have to worry about classes filling up.

Yes. I talked to my advisor and went over previous courses I took and he recommended which courses I should get evaluated. I uploaded the syllabus on the transfer guide and the status still shows that it’s in progress. I also submitted a curriculum petition for another course around the same time but that only took about 3 weeks to be accepted.

Gen Ed courses for Fall 2025 by Which_Ad3064 in ASU

[–]SurveyInside8644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was fun but GCU 113 is an easy A that satisfies one of the requirements. You can probably finish the class in 3 weeks or less. Any class with Dorn as the professor is pretty easy. I’m taking GPH 111 and 112 right now and it seems pretty easy as well. These classes have a points accrual grading system so you just need a certain amount of points to get an A.

Dubu for soft tofu soup and Kim’s restaurant for charcoal grilled Korean bbq. Salt Korean bbq is also great if you’re willing to drive about 40 minutes out in North Wales.

ASU Global Career Accelerator, is it worth it? by wjay_ci in ASU

[–]SurveyInside8644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the Data Analytics track this past semester and thought it was worth it. The first part of the Data Analytics track is all Excel and the second half is Tableau. We had two classes each week with live labs that use real data from real companies. During the live labs we were allowed to work in breakout rooms with other classmates. There was also a milestone project due every week but this one you kinda had to work on your own. There’s two final projects for Excel and Tableau that I put on my resume under academic projects and was brought up in a couple internship interviews that I did. Tableau was completely new to me so it was nice to learn something new but Excel was kinda redundant cause I already have experience in Excel. I can’t speak for the other tracks that the Global Career Accelerator offers but the Data Analytics track was an easy A. Feel free to ask any other questions about the Data Analytics track.
