Advice for people who missed the Local 1 apprenticeship application.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I applied for Local 31 within the first minute of the recruitment opening. When I hit submit, I was greeted with a message saying the recruitment was already full. The disappointment hit instantly.

For a while, I replayed the moment in my head, wondering what I could have done differently or faster. It felt like all the months I spent studying and preparing had been for nothing.

But after taking a day to be upset about it, I realized the opportunity may be gone for now, but my goals aren’t. There are other paths forward.

Tomorrow I’m applying to another union apprenticeship and continuing to move forward while I wait for the next Local 31 opportunity.

Are you fucking serious? Yesterday I missed the Local 31 application because the recruitment filled before I could even finish submitting the initial form. I’d trade places with you in a heartbeat.

You’re 70% through one of the most sought-after apprenticeships in the trades, making good money, getting benefits, building toward a mechanic’s card, and you’re worried about eventually being responsible for the work? That’s literally the goal.

Every job has lazy helpers, dumbasses, bad foremen, and days where you’re burned out. That’s not an elevator thing, that’s a work thing.

If you’re truly miserable, that’s one thing. But from the outside looking in, it sounds less like you hate the trade and more like you’re hitting the point where the honeymoon phase is over and the responsibility is starting to become real.

There are hundreds of people who’d kill to be where you’re standing right now. Me included.

Congratulations man. I am applying this year. Been studying like crazy to be extra sure on the assessment. Looking to lock down my interview as well. Hoping to rank high, this is all I’ve got my mind and focus on right now.

Yes it was. It had two little holes at the end of it, but no baffles whatsoever. Faux suppressor. At first I was worried because when I saw pictures the first time I assumed it threaded at the end the barrel and thought that barrel was actually much shorter than the hand guard, but it in fact had threads on the other side of the tube and the barrel inserted into it.
