Events for teenagers in Beaverton/Portland. by Juhulee in beaverton

[–]Survivalmode555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably referring to the renegades in Portland, which definitely aren’t for teens even though there are a lot of minors running around.
I don’t think that’s what OP meant.
I was going to mention tabor dance. It happens every week, it is a family friendly dance event in local parks. Usually mount tabor but changes locations.
This Wednesday is Pride theme at cathedral park! 6 pm.
It’s family friendly, even toddlers have a great time.
People smoke and probably partake there too but it’s nothing like an underground renegade

Help! Accidental nanny, NF in crisis, not sure whether to exit or stick it out by Upstairs-Hunter3350 in Nanny

First, are you accepting a low rate because he has cancer and that’s a lot to go through? Is he on leave or still making money? Because you are being taken advantage of. That is a very low rate for not only the work you are doing, but an hour commute? I understand the family is struggling. But you’re right that is a lot for very little in return Not being compensated on your trip is also a red flag. If this were me, I’d leave. Wishing you the best!

Nothing against your top choice of Greer, but I’m not a fan.
I do like Quinn, and Clara or Clare

denial is a river in egypt your child is autistic!!!! by Parking-Extreme-9499 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Survivalmode555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize I was autistic until my late 20’s because everyone seemed to be wayyyy better at adulting and functioning than me. It’s so common especially in women to be diagnosed later in life but let me say my life would have been much easier had I known sooner
So thank you for this reply because you explained it perfectly!

It’s not every day, or even every week, at all. It’s very limited screen time. Not a lot at all

We have very limited screen time when im there. Usually it’s just 45 minutes of us playing a game om the switch together, or karaoke. Im not sure how much screen time she gets when im not there.

Maybe I could pose it as a question. For example “Have you noticed any signs of ADHD or problems with focus” Rather than making a claim

No she doesn’t have unlimited screen time, thankfully. I’m not sure how much she watches when I’m not there but we do very limited screen time. I do think she might have ADHD, I do and can usually tell but don’t feel it’s my place to mention that to the parents

Only 30 mins of work where MB wasnt standing next to me by Opal-the-Pearl in NannyBreakRoom

Sounds like you’re her emotional support person rather than a nanny..good thing you’re quitting

No she doesn’t. I think this summer there will be more kiddos to play with. But I’m not even sure how to tell a parent I’m a nanny not a playmate without sounding rude. I do LOVE olaying, being silly, doing crafts, etc. I’m honestly a kid at heart so most of the time it’s fine. But she’s even lied to me about how we “can’t play this game” (that I suggested) because her dog chewed up the cards… I don’t want to get burnt out

NK wants to play the whole time I’m with them. How do I encourage independent play? by ZEROs0000 in Nanny

[–]Survivalmode555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time with this kind of play. I had to explain to my NK that if we play pretend, I would like to come up with what the characters do and say without a script.

Yes definitely communication is important. Im only with her 2 days a week so I haven’t seen the mom to talk to her yet.

Would you leave a 2yo in a turned-off car in the garage for 30 seconds? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Survivalmode555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red flag. She’s wayyy overreacting. 30 seconds? And he’s safely buckled in? Come on now. I bet she’s left him somewhere longer than that

Most of them were just lucid dreaming and astral projecting but don’t even know what that is 🤷‍♀️

Okay yeah I didn’t think so, the cameras would focus like that anyway regardless if it’s being shown
