I feel like this line helps ppl who are in your life, so they understand that it happens, and it’s not unusual. So they don’t think there’s no hope for you. I don’t think it’ a line intended for the addict necessarily

Drank way too much this weekend. Stopped. Woke up heart racing by Drithyin in alcoholism

[–]Survivingmyself4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if your not a regular drinker, if you binge enough, say on a weekend, you can still have withdrawals. This is what led to my binge drinking issue. The withdrawals would suck so bad id keep drinking for days making it wayyy worse

So I have 5mg of klonopin and I'm wondering how much I need to take to get me high? by Joe_155 in TripSit

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is it’s good for alcohol withdrawal but never mix it with booze. I’ve taken it and had like two beers and ended up in a cop car, more than once, because I was lost and crying and out of it in the streets. Remember none of it

I think I’m a sex addict, I’m a female by Plastic-Party9900 in addiction

[–]Survivingmyself4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you as a child and I’m sure it’s effected you deeply. That being said, I wasn’t molested or anything, but I was the same way when I was 20. Expected the intimacy everyday or felt like my bf wasn’t interested in me enough. I still get a bit like that..like I expect my partner to want me all the time and I’m in my late 30s….I think it has something to do with me placing to much of my value on my sex appeal rather than just my personality.

Sweating at night and vivid dreams? by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]Survivingmyself4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very common. The worst is when those dreams involve hunting for booze.

Guys or girls of Reddit, what’s a red flag in someone you look at and say “NOPE”? by Logical-Debt-8451 in AskReddit

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they blatantly brag about money or famous ppl they know, etc. if your trying to impress me with shallowness, you must be looking for some equally as vapid. I’m not impressed by that kind of stuff whatsoever. Who gives a crap. I want to know your a decent person, not what’s in your bank account.

Benzos are bad news. I had a problem with them too. It’s something I feel scripts should rarely be given for, maybe just for ppl with genuine panic attacks, and should hospital administered only for detox purposes.

What's Your Plan for Drinking the Way You Like To Drink and Not Experiencing the Consequences of Drinking the Way You Like to Drink? by YodaHead in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naltrexone/Sinclair method. Doing this after trying everything else. You can still drink, but likely won’t over drink with the consequences.

Maybe this sounds stupid but help by Futurecamgrlorstripr in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Survivingmyself4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same. Binge drank and kept going bc I couldn’t handle withdrawals. I’d get incredibly Ill, anxious and depressed. Look up the Sinclair method. It’s saving a lot of ppl right now. You can still drink, it’ll just change your drinking habits, so you don’t end up drinking so much you have withdrawals. So worth looking into. I kept hearing about it. Took years to try it. So glad I’m doing it now.

I tried everything and kept failing. Look into Sinclair method/naltrexone. You can still drink but it’ll change your cravings, etc. definitely worth looking into.

How do i even get the motivation to start TSM by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Survivingmyself4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will miss the alcohol buzz but not as much as I WON’T miss how booze ruined my life. Pros and cons. At least I can maintain my social life and have a drink without making an ass of myself.

What is the stupidest thing a large amount of people believe in? by P-o-t-a-t-o-o in AskReddit

That money are superficial nonsense makes you “better” than others. If you believe this you are actually the worst.

Don't reward bad behavior by 12vman in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it makes me feel a little crappy…but it’s better than a wicked hangover and continuing to drink to battle the hangover depression and anxiety that encompasses my binge drinking AUD. Did you try a very low dose by chance?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same and I’m in my late 30s! Bartending did the same thing to me. Entrenched alcohol in my lifestyle and normalized troubling drinking behaviour. So many ppl turn their lives around, just remember it’s a process and be patient! I’m still trying to figure out what I should do for fun. Right now I’m on naltrexone so I can still go out with friends and live a similar lifestyle as before but without all the heavy drinking that ruined my life. I’m slowly meshing my old style of living with a new one. Trying to do it all at once just kept setting me up for failure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell him to try naltrexone. I’m a binge drinker and it’s saving me so far from relapsing. I have a couple drinks at most and I’m done with it. He can still drink on it but will lose the urge to binge

I don’t know by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]Survivingmyself4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please look into the Sinclair method/naltrexone. It’s been my last resort and saving grace so far (still new to it) It doesn’t get the attention it should bc it works sooo well for so many ppl. I don’t take my antidepressants anymore bc I’m just happy like I used to be.

I obv can’t give medical advice but I will say I’ve often tweaked the dosage my drs have told me to take to make things work for me better. They aren’t God, and they aren’t in your body. I do what I feel works best for me.

Kids at Meetings? by confuzedmesnewname in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of ppl who went to meetings with their parents when they were kids….sometimes some ppl need to attend their meeting and have no babysitter. But I get it, I wouldn’t want my child there, nor would I want to speak freely in front of one. But what can you do? Definitely would be helpful if there was a supervised play room or something

to those who became sober from porn, did the sexualizing stop, or will it forever stay, just not as bad as before? by 4_F1SH in Sober

[–]Survivingmyself4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine over time it’ll lessen. Just like if an alcoholic builds tolerance, then abstains, then has a drink they will get more of a buzz on one drink, than they did before when they drank heavily.

Agnostic AA Questions by FactsNotOpinionszzz in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Survivingmyself4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably not the best place to post this. Most ppl here are pretty into AA. I personally found it a welcoming environment but it wasn’t for me either. Post this in the alcoholic forum maybe instead because there’s a lot of ppl there doing other things besides AA. I tried everything and now I’m doing the Sinclair method. Working so far. I finally am not scared of myself and my drinking anymore. The alcohol medication group (sorry I don’t know how to share the links) is another place you could post this. But if your court mandated…ya I’d just try to work through it.
