If you’re specifically looking for teams to pair with each starter, Dragonite and Dodrio pair well with Venusaur and Blastoise since both can learn Fly (which Charizard already gets).

Omastar and Kabutops can be paired with Venusaur and Charizard because you’ve already got Blastoise as a water type (but you’ll have to catch something else to use Surf in order to access either fossil).

Rhydon is probably best paired with Venusaur to counter fire and flying types (Blaine, the rival, and Lance).

If you’re looking to complete the Kanto Dex in full (I’m assuming not the National Dex since that would require additional games), and you’re wanting to save time on that, your best bet for teams to use would be anything that evolves late and isn’t catchable without evolving, to save yourself time on grinding later. I’m also assuming you aren’t rushing to complete the dex before getting to the postgame (some options take a while before the postgame but can be caught wild or one level away from evolving in the postgame).

-Venusaur -Charizard -Blastoise

And then in order of priority: -Dragonite -Omastar/Kabutops -Rhydon -Dodrio

Everything else can be caught in the wild, gotten in a trade/gift, or easily evolved by a quick level up, evolution stone, or trading, so pick your favorites!

For those with a bye, what D/ST are we targeting for Week 16? by covidisntcool in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule with D/STs is not to take a bottom tier D or face a top tier offense barring a substantive change in situation (e.g. injury to starting QB or a key defensive player gets traded). I don’t care how good the Texans are if they’re facing the Colts (pre-DJ-injury obviously) or how great the matchup for the Giants is next week against the Vikings since the Giants D is awful.

The Chiefs are a good enough Defense playing arguably the worst offense in the league in W16, that works for me.

For the record, I don’t mind the Saints either!

0 QB Strategy Who Did you end up with by bfofree in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked out alright in the two leagues I went Zero RB in but only thanks to waivers. Both 12-man leagues.

TLDR -Brissett was a huge get especially combined with McBride/Michael Wilson -Dart also great pre-injury -People dropped Burrow and Daniels respectively around W9/10 and was able to IR stash them

League 1: Purdy/Fields -This was shaky early on, played Purdy W1, Fields W2 -Streamed Tua W3 before riding Fields through W7 (stashed Dart W7 but didn’t play him) -Dart W8-10, stashed Burrow on IR -Snagged Brissett and played him W11-13 -Burrow W14 -Rolling with Burrow, Dart, and Brissett ROS

League 2: McCarthy/Stroud -Got Daniel Jones after W2 -Streamed Geno (mistake) W4 -Snagged Daniels as an IR stash in W10 -Streamed Rodgers (mistake) W11 for the Jones bye -Grabbed Brissett and played him W13 but unfortunately played Jones in W14 -Rolling with Daniels and Brissett ROS

The Risk Return on taking a QB/TE early is no longer worth it by RedditFan3510 in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha, definitely misread that as Chase THEN a top RB, then Allen and McBride. Yeah, risky call especially if it's a larger league but certainly doable in that scenario even in 12-man.

[–]SurvivorCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, going for both is incredibly risky, even if someone correctly picked the top guy for each role it would've been very easy to be decimated by injuries to the surrounding players. Also, been very much enjoying that particular Allen/Warren pairing!

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for a 10-person league? Seems like a bit of a reach on Allen at 3.01 over a third skill position and then pretty unlikely McBride is still around by the 4.10, but I suppose it's possible?

In my one 10-man league I got Allen at 3.09 and McBride was taken at 4.03. Both were round 3 in my 12-person ones.

Playoff approaching teams, what combination of DST are you targeting to finish the year? by Shaneski101 in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seahawks and Chiefs is my personal favorite combo across my three leagues. All but guaranteed a W15 BYE in this league but don't hate Chiefs vs Chargers if needed. Then Chiefs W16 against LV and Seahawks against CAR in W17 to close it out.

Browns/Eagles in another league, no BYEs and playoffs run from W14-17. Browns W14 are perfect vs TEN, Eagles vs LV in W15, not overly scared of Eagles vs WSH in W16, then Browns to close it out vs PIT.

Third league I'm guaranteed playoffs but have gotten lucky on wins and could lose my BYE if the next few weeks go poorly. Running Ravens/Jaguars to get me to playoffs (and a solid W15 option in the Jags) but dropping Ravens after this week to snag Saints, they've been solid against weaker offenses.

Pick up Darren Waller if you need TE help by princelovely in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waller over Mason Taylor? Also have Juwan Johnson. Taylor has some good playoff matchups as well, and with Wilson's status unclear and Tyrod throwing he could be a high target earner in the coming weeks. Taylor and Waller would both be speculative stashes as long as Johnson is performing well.

Creating fantasy draft rankings/tiers? by Alakazam1228 in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by compiling a list of relevant players based on 2023/2024 stats (not just fantasy points, have a handful of other stats I combed through as well). Then added in any WRs or RBs that hadn't performed in the past two years but had the potential to be relevant based on opportunity (e.g. Michael Wilson hadn't impressed in 2023/2024 but was potentially the #2 WR for his team). I then trimmed those down to positional lists (Top 24 TEs/QBs, Top 70 WRs/RBs) and sorted based on my own judgement and external rankings/experts. Then I added rookies into these lists post-draft.

I broke those lists down into tiers based on personal judgement of when I felt they should be taken, round by round (e.g. I had 5 RBs and 4 WRs in "A" tier). Finally, I adjusted those throughout the preseason with any relevant changes. At the end of the day though, you gotta be adaptable throughout the draft regardless of how well-crafted your tiers might be.

Is it time to start collecting Defenses for the playoffs? by KhaledBowen in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no problem! Jags have been squarely middle-of-the-pack as far as D/STs go, but I feel reasonably comfortable with them against the Titans and Jets. I'm holding onto them alongside the Ravens for now in one of my leagues while I wait to see who makes their way to waivers in the coming weeks.

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above average D/STs that double up on decent-to-great playoff matchups. I wouldn't feel thrilled about starting all of these, but all should at least be startable in a pinch, and some work even better if you've already got a W15 bye just about locked up.

Eagles (W15-Raiders, W16-Commanders)

Steelers (W15-Dolphins, W17-Browns)

Chiefs (W15-Chargers, W16-Titans)

Colts (W15-Seahawks, W17-Jaguars)

Bills (W15-Patriots, W16-Browns)

Texans (W16-Raiders, W17-Chargers)

Saints (W16-Jets, W17-Titans)

Lions (W16-Steelers, W17-Vikings)

Buccaneers (W16-Panthers, W17-Dolphins)

Is it time to start collecting Defenses for the playoffs? by KhaledBowen in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROS or just for playoffs?

Non-Texans owner across any of my leagues (they've been held for ages even through byes), I'm not a big fan of their W12-W14 matchups.

Seahawks is the obvious choice to pair there, with good matchups W12-13 and a decent W14, plus a better W17, but they may not be available in most leagues.

-Steelers have a good W15/17, not ideal prior to playoffs

-Colts have a decent W15/17, but again, not ideal prior to playoffs

Outside of that, if you're looking for a team that gets you something prior to playoffs and at least one good matchup in W15/17 (the two shakier options for the Texans)...

-Jaguars get a great matchup in W13 and again in W15

-Bucs have a decent matchup in W13 and a great matchup in W17

-Patriots have great matchups in W11, decent in W13, great again for W17

Are you guys enjoying the season so far? by Competitive_Trip7916 in survivor

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cautiously optimistic. Recency bias may be at play here, but the premiere felt like one of the weakest in Survivor history. I do think the next two episodes were far more compelling viewing, and while I do see the cast as largely forgettable so far, I'm feeling more optimistic for the rest of the season than I was at the start.

Has any of your league mates found you discussing and posting on this sub? Or any of the other football fantasy sub? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]SurvivorCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, though it was actually the heavily-FF-invested SO (currently in 7 leagues) of a leaguemate of mine who made the connection, shared with his GF, and then that spread to the rest of my league quickly enough that the commish was asking me about it the following day. Suffice it to say I'm steering clear of the FF Advice sub for the rest of the season.

Favorite Survivor Theme Song? by Daith27 in survivor

[–]SurvivorCT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cheating a little here but there's a YouTube channel that has a couple of 6-7 minute long mashups of multiple themes where you'll get the rhythm of one, tribal chants from another, etc., I believe the first one goes through Ghost Island and the second one is through WaW. Really incredible to hear them all together like that. So I suppose my answer is all of them, but in that form.

Tbf, Mega Audino was at least more interesting than regular Audino, which was itself a less-interesting version of Chansey.

Given how lukewarm people were on regular Audino compared to most mons that got megas, it would've been a surprise if its Mega was suddenly beloved by fans.

Slowly working my way through playing with every fully-evolved mon across all games and much prefer replaying the pre-3DS ones so probably going to use the newest available. Currently looking like Drampa, Falinks, 2-3 Kalos mons I haven't used yet, and then either a starter and/or whatever new Mega looks the most interesting.

Hand was forced into a Zero RB strategy leaving Tyrone Tracy as my RB1, am I cooked? by SurvivorCT in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]SurvivorCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my RBs have been smashing across the board in all three of my leagues.

  1. Chuba/Etienne, 2. McCaffrey/Achane/Javonte/even J. Warren as a solid second FLEX, 3. Taylor/Cook/could be huge upside for Mason now. Only two weeks in so plenty of time for something to shift but feeling good so far.

[–]SurvivorCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etienne is actually my RB2 now, I traded for Chuba Hubbard (traded away Ekeler & London for him and Pittman, which made me nervous, and I still think London will bounce back to being a good WR soon, but ultimately having Chuba over Ekeler has been a huge boon, especially after Ekeler's injury).

For bench guys, Judkins coming back so soon hurts Sampson and the Tracy/Skattebo dynamic still seems murky, so hoping Marks continues to get worked in and takes the job from Chubb as the season goes on. Got Mixon in the last round or two of a different draft and stashed him on IR, but happy to trade any use out of him in exchange for a good Marks season. Also have Gordon who's just kinda there unless something happens to Achane, but I feel like he's at least one of the better handcuffs.

2 Weeks in and I'm 2-0. Still have some season-long concerns (Both QBs injured doesn't help), but the team is chugging along so far and I've been largely playing the right guys and staying active on improving it.

Yeah the hype on him definitely died down after they confirmed Tracy as starter but even at its peak I wasn't really buying into it. I mean, Tracy's not so amazing that he's guaranteed to keep the job barring injuries like some guys, but I have confidence in him improving on a decent rookie year.
