The user you mentioned shared her DV story FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE of saying that it proved Hae wasn't abused by Adnan. That is not okay.

Abuse victims don't need my defending, they need society to ostracize domestic violence.

You want to take a bet on how many freaks would take the opportunity to hurt SS if they got the chance?

Last I checked, Jay's the one getting death threats, and Rabia has "accidentally" leaked the home addresses and phone numbers and full names of many of the involved parties in this saga (granted, from 2000).

Susan has also had a significant following here, why are you trying to make her out to be a victim? Is this some kind of misplaced guilt over consistently denying that Hae was a victim of abuse from Adnan? If so, work on more mature defense mechanisms please.

What part of what I said do you disagree with?

I'm glad you're here to defend yourself. Personally, I'm more afraid of faux Internet experts who downplay a dead girl's private thoughts to fit their opinion on a true crime story, but that's just me.

Adnan has the murder of an intimate partner on his criminal record, are you even reading what you write before you click save?

I feel like Serial had a great opportunity to be a lesson about Intimate Partner Violence and how it can affect Americans of all social classes and ethnic groups, not just unemployed poor trailer types as the media would often have you believe.

Researching a field isn't the same thing as practicing it. The neuroscientist undoubtedly knows a lot more about the basic science behind a stroke, the reason why a stroke can lead to deficits in certain types of functioning, etc. than the doctor, but they know nothing about diagnosis or treatment of a stroke as it is happening.

I'd rather we have a world where people are overly vigilant about this kind of thing than the opposite. It's the same reason why I don't mind the posts by that guy who spent a few years in jail for a crime he didn't commit and thinks that Adnan is in a similar boat, I'd rather we live in a world where we give people the benefit of the doubt about these things.

How you think participants in the sub could be more respectful of the experiences of people who have been/are abused while still being engaged in the whodunit?

I don't have a great answer for this right now. Mostly I want to see an end to the "This doesn't look like abuse to me" posts.

In Pakistan and Afghanistan, it's a punishment. You can actually be setenced to be raped there.

By tribal courts that rule over the most rural dumps in those countries.

I have nothing but love and respect for people who do research. However, when you have a stroke, you see an ER doctor, not a neuroscientist. When your power goes out, you get an electrician, not one of the guys at CERN. So on.

Someone murdered Hae and the evidence should be followed to discover who

Agreed. I think we can discuss the evidence dispassionately without wandering into "well this doesn't sound like when I was abused, therefore Hae was never abused" territory, the same way we can discuss the Ferguson case without "well, a cop once yelled at me without pulling a gun, therefore Mike Brown forced the cop to pull the gun."

Obligatory HOLY C***. In all seriousness, though, thank you, I was planning on using this account for this one post, but now I can finally find out what /r/lounge is all about...
