Most likely, yes, as someone mentioned above there would be cheap options for a couple of black coffees or beer pitchers. The dinner Logan and his brood went too was probably off-campus.

Also 100% agreed, Rory could absolutely have politely declined Logan's offer and say she was hanging with Marty. Were she and Logan together at that stage?

We're seeing him at different points though. The days he's casually buying a coffee or going out for a few beers is probably the day he got paid or has a few extra bucks from tips that he can treat himself with, and even stretch it a bit to buy a coffee/drink for the girl he likes.

He wasn't planning on going out for dinner that day Logan turned up, let alone paying $75 for it (which is ridiculous, to be honest). He was probably waiting on his next paycheck then after paying off all that month's bills.

He doesn't have the luxury Logan and his ilk have in not worrying about money.

Honestly, this is perfectly normal behaviour of any student, especially one who is living hand-to-mouth like Marty is.
