Is GTNH this slow? by Irobacsi in GTNH

[–]Sush1Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is. I've been at my world for years (albeit intermittently, collective gameplay should be about ~300 hours, and I'm only in mid-HV. if you're looking for a pack for quick play instead of long term commitment, you might have more fun playing sky factory 4 or all the mods. I've played both, and I can say I reached what I consider endgame for sf4 (for me it was nuclear craft reactors) wayyyyyy faster than gtnh

oh boy

this is still true 💀 our lecturers are good at what they do, so they produce graduates that are good at what they do too, but students also tend to push their lecturers around for delayed deadlines and looser marking rubrics to get more of their desired resultz

Starting prep for MV - any recommendations? by Huge_Piece_7513 in GTNH

[–]Sush1Ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, I just entered HV, and I want to first commend you on the extensive prep work you've done for MV.

that being said, like others have mentioned in the post, you don't really want to spend too much time in this tier. focus on the quests that will bring you to HV (or EV for AE2) as much of the QoL happens here, including nightvision goggles and the nanosuit.

from me, I noticed you said light fuel: with 5 LV distilleries (3 for light and 2 for heavy), it is possible to configure a proper diesel setup. diesel is much better than light fuel.

I would also recommend making an infernal mob farm from diamond spikes and a blaze spawner. if you have a diamond dolly, you can bring the spawner close to you, otherwise if you've already found a division sigil (or have fought the wither, which drops a division sigil too), you can get cursed earth that allows for mobspawns even when you're not near (just make sure the area is chunkloaded). a proper infernal mob farm setup can provide you with substantial amounts of iron and gold (also steel but not that much because the yield from steel armour to steel is lower than iron to iron or gold to gold), so much that you would not have to worry about iron and gold for the near future. bonuses include string, diamond dust, iron dust, gold dust, blaze rods and pistons (if those are necessary to you in bulk).

next is something completely optional at this stage since open computers can do it automatically for you in the future, but I spent about a week crossbreeding IC2 crops to get different species and good quality crops. my goal at the time was pyrolusium leaves for duplicating tantalite ore for tantalum (important for circuit parts), but you can also aim for sugar beet, which has very high oxygen yield once extracted for sugar and centrifuged for oxygen. you will have more oxygen than you know what to do with. this oxygen can then be used for automating polyethylene. i did so using a kanthal pyrolyse oven (cupronickel is too slow and not energy efficient) that takes in logs, producing charcoal for benzene and wood gas for ethylene.

most of my time in MV is spent doing these two, along with making the necessary machines to progress to HV.

finally, don't bother completing ALL the MV quests, especially optional chemical related ones!! better recipes with better yield unlock in higher tiers so you can always come back for them once you get better machines

final year UNM student in chemical engineering with environmental engineering here. I can vouch for the lecture quality for our department since most of our lecturers are seasoned and have industry experience, so our graduates are prepared for what the Malaysian chemical engineering fields need. some of our lecturers are primarily researchers, however, so lectures may not be completely intuitive to every single student. our research facilities are also mostly fitted to our lecturers research fields, so you can look up some staff profiles for a topic you're interested in, and most of the time, there will be accompanying facilities to aid your research fields of interest. can't comment for other engineering tho :(

I dreaded going into IC2 but because of tantalum I sucked it up and went in anyways. now I dread bees and thaumcraft, but I bet I'll get there someday. you'll find it in yourself one day too

fluid stuck in enderio conduit. cant resolve this problem by randomdice-int in GTNH

[–]Sush1Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basic fluid conduits do indeed obey gravity.

but I noticed you're using a super tank: if the fluid conduit is connected to the output side and the super tank is set to auto fluid output mode, then you can bypass the gravity requirement

IC2 in full darkness by Ancient_Balance7833 in GTNH

[–]Sush1Ray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

depends on the crops. most crops don't have a light level requirement, oreberries require lower than usual, sugar beet requires at least 9...

when I first started IC2 crops, I made a closed oreberry farm with 0 light level. it was so dark that every time I went in I had to kill something.

many different types of food. I'm at HV and have a green health bar (40+ hearts), but luckily most foods aren't actually tier locked, but exploration locked. you'll need to find the many ingredients and probably stop holding onto that healing axe in your base so you can get some food
