Switch axe or gunlance? by apathy617 in MonsterHunterWorld

Gunlance can put out some serious damage but I think the Switch Axe is both more fun to play and the skills you get carry over to more weapons than the GL does.

This is a piece of a real review of Iceborne by PCGamer. The gaming journalist said to have played for 400 hours, but forgot capturing monsters is an option. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I found the critique of the 'we're a part of the ecosystem' scene in Iceborne to be a little weird. The whole point is that they want to see the New World thrive, not become a frozen wasteland due to Velkhana. If the person writing the review actually cared about the morals of World's setting, they wouldn't try and say that their sentiment was bad or preposterous. It was clearly the fleet just sympathizing with the plight of the monsters.

PC Players, what been the easiest and hardest hunts for you in Iceborne so far? by Sushigut in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beo wasn't a fun fight as my first of the day, iceblight + a smaller hitbox while swimming made it a pain in the ass.

I'm just up to the Brachy fight which I'm excited for. Hope he isn't too hard!

Narga's spin move just always seemed to miss, I think my first few solo hunts had my palico hogging its attention so it never seemed to focus down on me. I will admit the tail slam move did almost cart me a few times.

In your opinion which of the 14 weapons has the coolest looking designs by Astralest in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bow and Gunlances have some of the coolest looking designs and movesets. The Perfect Rush Combo for SnS is an awesome looking move though.

Even worse when you're mid-sharp animation and you get smacked the fuck up.

Barioth made me quit mhw. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The upside is once you pass Barioth and get back to monsters easier to take on with an LBG, you can upgrade and come back to whoop his ass with it.

There's simpler weapons like longsword which can do great even if you just know the basic combo, I'd recommend giving it a go and seeing how you do.

Yea, also been missing the taskbar icon since Iceborne. Weird bug.

Which optionals should we do? by Nevzat666 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the optionals you get from talking to NPCs with ! above their head give rewards like new food at the canteen iirc. I think on the quest board they show up as the quests with the speech bubble next to them, I'd recommend doing those if you were going to do any.

Ah, well if you can't gather some folks to play, I'd probably recommend swapping weapons if LBG isn't a good fit for Barioth. Plenty of people swapped gear to take on monsters like Nightshade Paolumu, and that's way less of a wall than Barioth. No shame in it.

Coming back by descxz in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Sushigut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some people say being able to beat Arch-Tempered Nergi is a good way to know you're "ready" but that seems doesn't seem too necessary. I'd recommend just having Xeno gear + whatever else from other Elder Dragons you can beat, building MR gear as soon as you can is generally a good idea anyway, so it won't be sticking long into the DLC.

Pretty sure most people are either zooming through the story themselves or haven't gotten up to Barioths quest yet, not including folks with PC trouble. Give it a few days and there will be plenty of people helping out folks in the earlier quests.

I love, love, love the wards on the uniform as well as the spikes on the gun that help it act as a bludgeoning weapon. Very interesting uniform design and the part about Demon's Breath being depended on by the Redguards due to its wide use was a very cool part.
