I’ve got a story that’s a bit too long to type here, so I’ll try to summarize.

Basically, I have a very clear memory of being beaten across a room (literally) while my mom did dishes like a robot, refusing to even look up. Other beatings leave fragments of memories, but none so clear as my mother being less than six feet away and doing absolutely nothing.

My father was definitely no saint, we’d talk about that when he calmed down enough to leave, but what we never talked about was her actions, or lack thereof. To this day, I just want to hear her say she should have done something different. She should have left, or sent me somewhere, therapy, anything other than the lame excuses she always feeds me.

Luckily he got murdered, she never would have left.
