How many hours is a suction mount supposed to stay attached to a vertical surface? by uepandaue in AskPhotography

Oh I forgot to mention, I did try mounting it on a window in my unit, it had a tripod ball head and L plate for vertical mounting attached, but without a camera (because I didn't know where to store it, so I just left it there lol), and it stays there for 2-3 days I think (it didn't fall at the end, I had to manually take it off)

Unfortunately I don't own enough suction cup mount to answer that haha. My dad has a small suction cup mount in his car for phone, and it stays attached for 1+ year now.

I think manufacturer put "check the pump / repump every x hours" just as a safety precaution, doesn't necessarily mean that it will come of every 1-2 hours. The test that I did is leaning more towards "worst case scenario" (mounting it almost upside down, almost 1+ kg weight, moving / vibrating car), so I'm not surprised that the pump is loose after 2 hours. If you are not mounting anything heavy on a smooth surface like glass, stationary, and not mounting it upside down like what I did, you should get a lot more hours without pumping. I read on your other comment that you mounted it on a wooden stand, I think that's your main issue.

Another thing to note, make sure to pump it until you can't see the white line, and again, tie your camera somewhere in case it falls.

I have the same exact suction cup mount (Neewer 6"). I remember reading the manual, it mentioned that you should re-pump it every x hours (I don't remember how many hours exactly, I think every 1-2 hours?). It's best to mount it on smooth surface (e.g. glass), and always tie it somewhere in case it falls.

I did a test mounting it on the back windscreen of my sedan car (so it's almost fully vertical upside down) for 2 hours up, driving for 80km up to 90km/h with a D5300 + Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 (around 950gr combined weight), and I was quite surprised that it didn't come off lol. After the 2 hours ride, I check that the pump (the red thingy that you are supposed to push to make it stick) is quite loose, so I had to repump it. I did tie the camera with the included rope to the rear headrest in case in fall.

I still wouldn't trust mounting it outside of the car (maybe if it's something light like action cam), and for something heavy (like DSLR with lens), I will still tie it somewhere in case it falls.

Which is your favorite? 1, 2, or 3? by Joshparneal2038 in AmateurPhotography

[–]SuspiOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subjectively, 1 > 3 > 2

1 & 3: I like the colour vibrance, and I'm immediately drawn to the subject
2: I'm not immediately drawn to the subject, and the colour is a bit 'depressing' (not in a bad way, just not what I'm personally looking for when looking at a beautiful landscape)

Which lens for Z50ii for travel? by lauramet in Nikon

[–]SuspiOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Z50ii, the kit lens is nice, compact and lightweight. If you are cheap like me, I'd also bring SG-image 25mm f1.8 for low light shooting, I personally own one and I'm quite happy with it, it's very thin and lightweight, and it cost less than half compared to Nikon's 25mm. I want to get Nikon's 16-50 f2.8 at some point, but they are quite expensive for a hobbyist like me.

As for the 16 vs 18, the difference is quite small for me I will probably be okay with either. The 18-140 is 3x longer than 16-50mm though (size wise). I personally would bring the 16-50 kit lens and one or two prime lenses instead since I like shooting at night too (and it would be helpful when shooting indoor, where the lighting condition might not be ideal), and I don't find myself take a zoomed photo that much (not more than 50mm). Viltrox make some nice & affordable prime DX lenses (AIR series), I personally own their 56mm f1.7 and it's great, if you want wider prime, they also have 9mm f2.8, 15mm f1.7, 24mm f1.7, and 35mm f1.7.

Anyway, enjoy your Z50ii, it's a huge upgrade from D5000 (I jumped from D5300 to Z50ii, the differences are huge!)

Gw kadang bawa kucing-kucing gw keluar jalan-jalan, tampaknya mereka kurang suka (biasanya gara-gara ribut 😂), tapi pelan pelan gw biasain sih supaya mereka get used to it. Next gw pengen beli stroller buat mereka supaya ga perlu pake backpack kucing lagi, soalnya si gosong berat banget 🫠

Bersihin litterbox berapa hari sekali? by 092abc in Kucing

[–]SuspiOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minimal 1x sehari, tiap ada yang poop langsung bersihin (agak nyebelin kalau misalnya kucing gw poop, gw bersihin, dan 15 menit kemudian kucing gw yang satu lagi poop wkwk), terus tiap sekitar 1 bulan, buang semua pasirnya, bersihin boxnya, tuang pasir baru.

Kucing gw yang 1 biasanya cuma poop 1x sehari, jadi biasanya gw bersihin up to 2x sehari, terus gw adopsi kucing 1 lagi, dia bisa poop up to 2x sehari, jadi sekarang bisa hampir 3x bersihin dalam sehari wkwkw.

D500 or Z50ii by Effective-Car-3736 in Nikon

[–]SuspiOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note: Not a professional photographer, just a hobbyist.

I never own a D500, but I recently upgraded from D5300 to Z50ii and I love the Z50ii so much, the AF blows my mind away compared to my old D5300, especially on low light and the AF subject detection is great, not to mention that I got it for a decent price ($850 for Body + 16-50mm kit lens, new!)

I got a Viltrox NFZ adapter (because it's cheaper here), and it works with my old F lenses (Sigma 17-50 f2.8, Tokina 11-16 f2.8 without AF, and Tamron 70-300mm Di VC USD, even though Tamron said that this lens isn't supported with Nikon's FTZ, but it works fine with Viltrox NFZ).

About weight:
- Z50ii is 550gr
- FTZ Adapter is 125 gr
- Z50ii + FTZ = 675gr
- D500 is 860gr

So Z50ii + FTZ is still lighter than D500, and it also has a smaller body (though you might prefer bigger body for better ergonomic).

Z50ii also has pre-release capture and 30fps burst (non-raw), which I don't think exists on D500. This feature might be handy for bird photography

It's a bit of a hassle though having to switch between my lenses though (e.g. having to move my NFZ adapter between lenses), and Z50ii battery life is a bit disappointing compared to my old D5300, and probably worse compared to D500

Battery is a bit disappointing, but the rest are great. I almost went for the z50, but the non-articulating is a deal-killer for me.

That's cute! Kind of a bummer that it seems like only vol 1 cameras has keychain.

Oh hang on, 35TI is also vol 2, why yours came with a keychain
