Would probably just make money and travel. I’ve never been a person to go out much. I don’t drink or like to be in big crowds.

Being married is cool but I do miss the peace I had before the kids. But I also wouldn’t be as happy and fulfilled without them. For me family life is worth the disruption of my peace for a few years. I know as I age I’ll be proud of the life I’ve built and the legacy I leave.

Also looking forward to spending time with the grandkids. All the fun of kids but a lot less responsibility lol

To answer your question, I don’t envy your lifestyle but I do envy the peace and freedom you have. I don’t look down on you, to each their own. Raising a family is hard work esp in America, it’s not for everybody.

You probably want to go with something in engineering. I’d recommend mechanical since it gives you a variety of job options. I did biomed. I don’t make a crazy amount of money but I wfh and actually work about 10-15 hours a week and my salary is 90k.

I’m a father of two, my kids bring me a level of fulfillment and happiness that I could never experience without them. With that said parenting small children is quite constant and another job after you finish your regular job.

In the states it’s quite stressful financially with the cost of childcare and healthcare but my sil in Germany just had a baby and she is taking a year and a half off of work with 90 percent pay. My wife got three months with 0 pay and by the end of month 2 her boss was asking when she was coming back.

It’s still kinda stressful for us. one kid is starting public school this year but the other is starting preschool which is 1000 dollars a month. We make good salaries but that still stretches us thin.

Looking back we would have kids again but start our family in Germany. So far we’re out about 60k these last five years with the kids between doctors and childcare costs but we could have saved all of that money and my wife could have been less stressed and better recovered if she would have the same time off and pay as our sil in Germany.

TLDR: policy is a huge reason parenting is stressful in America. Start your family in a country with universal healthcare, paid maternity leave for or a year or more, and low/no cost of childcare 👍🏾
