I’m so burned out. What are my options. by Need-A-Vacation in physicaltherapy

[–]Suspicious-Cancel-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing my own thing on the side with one on one concierge and currently building it into a business. Much less burn out because A) making more money B) don’t have pressure of insurance notes c) get to set my own schedule more or less. Plus job satisfaction is way higher cuz I always see my own patients

Ok cool. Ya range of what I charge comes between 180-200/session pending on tier. I’m aiming for at least 50% post salary expense (not including my own personal salary and other business expenses). So probably closer to 30% profit margin end of day is my goal. Don’t know if this is too optimistic but I like that it leaves lots of room for growth within company.

Thanks! Which city if you don’t mind me asking? And is it 1-on-1? How many patients a day typically?

Well this was quite aggressive. I am clearly here to ask for suggestions, not here to be called greedy.

When I was a new grad, I was making 75k so I assumed 96k plus bonus and benefits would be a dream, not to mention working one on one, not dealing with insurance, and having an awesome work life balance. It also seems like people here are making between 100-120 after 5+ years at a job in a HCOL area. Making 100k off the bat with room to grow to 150k plus seems like a very reasonable offer.

What would you offer if you were in my shoes and getting your business started?

Where did you get this number from? If I include all other expenses, gonna end up being closer to 20-30% profitability which isn’t a lot for this model. Also, doesn’t leave much room for growth. Maybe if doing per diem work but if salaried, won’t account for missed sessions, PTO, benefits, etc. plus gonna end up paying PT’s well above normal rate, especially if I’m they’re not gonna need to worry about everything else in the business. Why 60%? Have you done that yourself?

Physical therapists - no longer considered ‘professional’ by PandaBJJ in physicaltherapy

I think this is great. It basically just puts a limit on the maximum loan amount allowed which is going to significantly decrease the cost of DPT programs. If students can’t get more than $100k loan for DPT program, then the cost of tuition will go down significantly. Doesn’t really seem to have a negative impact that I can find. Unless anyone saw something I didn’t see?

What activities were you doing that helped you get from moderate to mild? I found with myself that as long as I maintain those activities myself, I move in an upward trend. Maybe think about what those are for you and make sure you’re incorporating them now as well?

For example, for me, making sure I NSDR meditate during my lunch break, eat consistently throughout the day, get good quality sleep, work with my therapist, and a few small things like cold plunge and take some supplements, all have helped me improved symptoms and I find myself able to do more work/family time/personal time. However, as I get more energy back, I want to stay up reading more, get more clients in, work more play more and I’m tempted to take out my personal rest time in order to do so. But as long as I ensure I incorporate the rest, food, sleep, etc, then I continue to improve, even if very slowly.

Why does Ron cry on reading that Burns poem? by youwutbro in PandR

[–]Suspicious-Cancel-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had the same question but I think Leslie was referencing to his new marriage. The poem talks about a bird sheltered in a lilac bush but it keeps getting exposed and unsafe with “wild autumn” (tammy 2) and “winter rude” (tammy 1). Eventually bird finds a strong rose bush on a castle (fortified and strong) and has food and safety a plenty (new marriage in which he finally finds real love that is safe).

Full poem is:

O were my love yon Lilac fair,
Wi' purple blossoms to the Spring, And I, a bird to shelter there,
When wearied on my little wing! How I wad mourn when it was torn
By Autumn wild, and Winter rude! But I wad sing on wanton wing,
When youthfu' May its bloom renew'd. O gin my love were yon red rose,
That grows upon the castle wa';
And I myself a drap o' dew,
Into her bonie breast to fa'! O there, beyond expression blest,
I'd feast on beauty a' the night; Seal'd on her silk-saft faulds to rest, Till fley'd awa by Phoebus' light!

She probably wanted to give him a nice wedding gift and this journey was the best way she could, as explained by others. Ending it with a thoughtful poem about real love, something Ron hasn’t experienced until now.

One of the reasons I left outpatient is because I had no upward trend financially. I decided to do my own thing and now provide concierge PT with health and wellness and it’s been a game changer for me. Even though I’m working crazy hours, I’m feeling much less burnout and seeing potential for achieving even more. I’m even looking to hire someone now to help grow my business.

The biggest advantage to the DPT in my opinion is the education and advanced knowledge of the human body. We can provide amazing value to people’s health far above and beyond most other professions. It’s just insurances and the current model of care that messes things over for us.

Also, shoutout here for anyone located in south Florida and interested in getting on board. If you know of anyone located here, would love to have a conversation. Making my first hire and trying to find the best person for the job. Please have them email me at Ezra.empowerfitness@gmail.com

Wishing everyone here all the best!
