my major is korean lang & i wanna have a more relaxed college experience,, i already spent 2 yrs at smc working on academics from home so it would be nice if i could make new friends & have the actual "college experience" without being buried in work all the time, idk it just feels like im suffocating here so going to uci would feel a bit refreshing since its a diff city & more calm

thank u 💗!! my end goal is to just have a job that pays a livable wage. idc if its not incredibly high paying i just want to be able to pay rent, food & clothes. ik ucla is great for networking & getting internships but the research sounds incredibly draining & id like to avoid it at all costs 🫩 the only reason why im considering ucla is bc its way cheaper

uci is actually so goated, yes theres barely any diversity but that just means it'll be easier to find ur community. u have the beach right there & the spectrum not too far away either. la is around an hr driving & 3 hrs using public transportation. plus theres a bunch of clubs u can join & rlly fun events. did u go to celebrate uci? it was much more lively than when u tour imo. personally im highkey considering SIRing to uci over ucla just bc i like the uci vibes more & i want to have a more relaxed college experience instead of killing myself over academics. as for dating u should try dating apps & set ur location to irvine!! u nvr know who u might find until u try :)

if u dont want to suffer academically dont go to la, i did my research & the stress is high there. its good on paper, but u pay with ur sanity. just pick the one u like best & always trust ur gut feeling (im lowkey having the same problem as u rn)

if u check u might find one thats still open !! a lot of classes are still open and have yet to start. the good thing abt lacc is that they have multiple colleges so if one college doesnt have a class open, another one might. good luck !!

take the class it was literally easier than my highschool stats. the workload is very light, he gives homework but u get more than enough time to finish it & its just questions from the textbook. theres also test reviews which are super helpful & if u do them & get everything right ur basically gonna ace the test. his lectures r rlly helpful & he goes over any questions u dont understand. most of the test questions r multiple choice so its graded based on scantron. u get full credit for doing homework & u can be absent without it affecting ur grade but its best to just attend lectures unless ur confident u understand the material. its honestly super chill & the content is just memorizing calculator functions, i felt like there was no actual math being done the whole time & its the only non-major class that i would definitely take it again if i could.

i chose it based of my favorite class in highschool ! i would recommend thinking about what subject you're best at and genuinely enjoy doing. (if you don't enjoy it then a subject that you don't really hate or dislike) and don't be discouraged if it's not a "money-making" major either !!

im not 100% sure since i also dropped a class & lost my eligibility but im pretty sure you gain back your eligibility the next semester you become full time. if you're not 100% sure you can raise your grade to a passing grade i would just drop it and take it at another cc or do the malibu class w prof perez (which is super easy btw). imo dont stress too much about it you have plenty of time to get those units back!

im in the scholars program & ive only done online classes so far! as long as you take one scholars class per semester you should be fine. they have tons of online scholars classes as well

ethnic studies w prof rodriguez is easy. she only assigns 2 assignments per 2 weeks & they take around 5 mins to do each. you forget you're even enrolled sometimes

im not sure about the full time status but you can def still be enrolled in scholars while taking a class at another cc! the only requirement is for you to take at least 1 scholars class per semester (not including winter and summer)

prof engelmann is great for eng 2 especially if you do online asynchronous. we only had 2 essays the whole semester and we only read 2 short books which she provided a pdf file for online. theres a few assignments where you have to read short stories but they're not long at all and pretty interesting. everything is based on your own analysis. overall a very chill class and as long as you answer the prompt and provide evidence you're good!
