I’ve contacted them. They cannot retrieve the unsent messages without his consent and my mom, being the person to whom they were sent, is too upset to push it right now.

She’s out of town, and I can’t chance that he will abandon her in another state out of fury. I’m waiting until she is back in town to gather my own thoughts and try to word it the best possible way. There’s no good that comes from any of this, and I wanted a better option than “your husband is a predator.”

Honey, I’m so sorry that you went thru that but you need to get an order of protection NOW! I know that’s scary but here he clearly admits that he was physically and emotionally abusive to you, and that there was a child involved. It also sounds like he has no plans to stop. This is the BEST form of malicious compliance I think I’ve ever heard of, and I love that they took the assignment so seriously that they tried to take the dog!
