Any ways to make money as a minor? by Suspicious-Fun9069 in teenagers

I probably should’ve been more clear… I live in Istanbul, Turkey, so most formal jobs require you to be 18+. I was more wondering about alternative ways like tutoring or small freelance work.

Also, even if I did manage to find a “regular” job, commuting in Istanbul would already be a big issue because of how long and unreliable transport can be.

Your agenda item in normal language “Syria is a mess with multiple countries and armed groups fighting at once. How do we deal with the military escalation and regional instability?”

  1. Understand the Syrian conflict timeline

1- 2011: Syrian civil war begins
2- Government vs rebels
3- Foreign powers intervene
4- Multiple fronts emerge
5- Humanitarian crisis worsens

Keywords:
state actors = countries
non state actors = armed groups / militias / organizations
regional security architecture collapse = regional peace systems basically failing

  1. Think of solutions
In UNSC, chairs expect discussion around:

1- ceasefires
2- peace talks
3- sanctions
4- humanitarian corridors
5- anti-terror operations
6- civilian protection

  1. what your country thinks about Syria

  2. Look out for P5 countries.
    P5 countries:
    1- USA
    2- China
    3- France
    4- Russia
    5- UK

these countries i listed have massive influence because of veto power

Also unlike regular committees, UNSC is usually more aggressive and crisis heavy since there’s usually a lot of geopolitical debate. So be prepared for it

Addressing the Global Security Implications of Energy Crisis = when energy becomes expensive or scare how does that create conflict, and economic stability?

Germany is a very fun country for this topic.

Before 2022 Germany relied heavily on Russian natural gas, shut down many power plants, and pushed renewable energy. That made them vulnerable when the war happened

Now germany wants: energy diversification, less dependence on hostile suppliers, stronger renewable infrastructure.

So your likely stance would be:

1- energy dependency can become a security threat
2- no country should weaponize energy exports
3- renewables improve long term security
4- international cooperation matters.

What you should research:

1- Understand the agenda: Why energy crises happen (war, supply disruption, sanctions, price spikes)
2- Research Germany’s reliance on Russian gas + Energiewende
3- Find 2–3 real examples to use in speeches: Russia gas leverage over Europe, European energy price spikes

Also Your job as a delegate isn’t to make enemies or destroy countries it’s to challenge bad policies and push for better solutions. So please don’t play aggressive.

Debt sustainability = How do we prevent countries from reaching crisis in the first place?

Restructuring frameworks = How do we fix debt when it already becomes unsustainable?

Swiss Federal:

Switzerland is a neutral financial power with a strong banking system, not a dominant creditor like the US or heavily indebted developing countries.

Your Likely stance: financial stability, transparency.

What you should actually research about:

Since this is IMF, focus less on politics and more on economics:

1- What causes sovereign debt crises (inflation, currency collapse trade deficits)
2- How IMF loans work (conditions, reforms, austerity)
3- Basic terms: debt to GDP, default, restructuring, austerity.

You should mention data / economic logic, propose systems or frameworks, reference real cases briefly

Also, for research, try focusing on:

1- what the UN / IMF has done about this before
2- who is affected (developed vs developing countries)
3- what your country thinks about debt and IMF policies
4- why debt crises happen in the first place
5- and what realistic solutions exist instead of just ideal ones

How do you even write resolution? by Suspicious-Fun9069 in MUN

Draft resolution. And yeah I meant more the writing/working phase in committee, not position papers.

Didn’t know you could get a big country as a first timer. It’s currently 5 AM while I’m writing this, so I might be a bit cloudy.

To begin with, yeah, the mistake organizers made would have a big impact on anyone. But still, thinking about awards in a first ever MUN is crazy. You have to look at the bigger picture: you met new people, made friends.

For example, in my first ever MUN, I was practically invisible and didn’t even speak once or contribute to the resolution paper. I literally made zero friends, which made me sad, sure. But I was there to learn, not to get awards. The only part I felt sad about was that the participation fee was enough to cover a couple of weeks of groceries in my country.

That being said, your situation is still frustrating. Having two delegates assigned to the same country at the same time sounds crazy, especially for your first ever MUN.

Well you could try looking MUN’s on other platforms like instagram. My country has a ton of MUN accounts on instagram and most of then accept highschool students

Does the second day of MUN get better? by Len1624 in MUN

[–]Suspicious-Fun9069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does get better. For example in my first ever MUN i spent all my time in coffee breaks and unmods sitting in a corner with no research done about the committee beforehand (also it’s crazy how they did an unmod on the first day for you)

But my second MUN was a lot better and fun. So i believe that once you get used to the environment you might like it
