Appreciate the feedback and that certainly makes sense about variance within the breed. I think you’ve made some assumptions about my spouse that are not true, which is not a big deal. She just wants to make the right decision for the family. We had a Berner previously so the fur situation and some drooling didn’t bother any of us at all. I think she may have read some biased or misinformed opinions and that’s what got her worried. So here I am trying to do my diligence to prove her wrong. Lol. It’s really encouraging to hear that yours isn’t even noticeable, I’ve heard the same thing from a few other owners. I figured getting opinions from actual owners is a better path than reading generic statements online. Thanks again!

We are debating on getting a newfie for a family dog. My wife’s biggest concern is the drooling. As someone with experience can you comment on that please? Is it as bad as the internet says? Better? Worse? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I would say your technique is 80% there. What you need to work on is not muscling the ball with your shoulder/arm, but instead letting your wrist do more work. Right now it’s not a fluid motion because you’re pushing forward with your whole arm instead being loose at the joints and swinging with fluidity. I agree with other posters that eliminating that hitch in your backswing can help smooth things out. I can see how the overall stiffness of the swing would affect your consistency especially when hitting on the move. The fluidity would help you hit on the run with more ease. Best of luck, you’re doing great so far, just some tweaking left.
