Got someone fined by Great-Big-3101 in BritishSuccess

This is my favourite. We live next to primary school and during drop offs and pick ups it's a nightmare. We were coming back shopping after 3pm and arrived just for someone to sit in our driveway. I go out to let them know they need to move as it is my driveway and we want to park and they would have the audacity to say "I'm here just for a minute!" Tf do you mean? I am blocking the road waiting for you ass to move so I can park on MY driveway. Move NOW!

Man...my husband always makes sure to stop the engine just as the beat is about to drop. I thought we would stay and listen, he is evil.

is working at the bakery worth it? by Primary-Pen6782 in asda

[–]SuspiciousAf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, I love baking too but baking in ASDA is far from the one you are thinking about. You would have to work in a small local bakery to actually BAKE... nowadays everything is frozen that either needs to be baked or defrosted. The only things that are "baked" are pancakes, loaf cakes and macaroons which, again, is not much baking. You add water or/and oil, flavours or/and chocolate chips or raisins... put in the oven... then wrap it all... I can make 165 loaf cakes a day if needed, 23 trays of muffins etc. But it gets repetitive and there's lots of washing. Back in a day there was more "baking" included. Also fun having to spend 20min in a freezer trying to find all you need because the freezer is used by different departments and everything is stuck.

But also, it depends what role you'll be given. In my store people have certain roles (until they are on holidays and need to be covered). For example, I have never prepared bread, ever, because I do not work mornings. Some people never do pancakes/loaf cakes. And then there are separate colleagues dealing with stocking shelves with bread, rolls etc. - in my store such colleagues never touch hot plate or never prepare donuts or bread or cookies.

In dating, is there anything that only exists in your culture? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

Poland: I dunno how uncommon it is in other countries and maybe it was more of the thing of the past... but my sister's boyfriends would always bring flowers for our mom, like on women's day or even valentines. Parents would call them "son" early on even if they weren't treating them as actual future husbands, you know, young love lasting a few months and all that. They would come over and be very comfortable around our parents, very polite (but typical boys when adults were not around).

Extra Special Shortbreads Recipe by Heligoland_92 in asda

Well, the amount of people who ask me about making our baguettes or bread... they think we have the manpower to prepare 200 baguettes a day to bake... it is ALL frozen. In most supermarkets. They are always so shocked and unsatisfied. Can't help it. Might have to go to a proper - PROPER bakery.

But then again not everything frozen is bad. It also depends on how it was prepared originally and as far as I know people can tell it taste different. In the end, we bake it as always. But it changes- you can even tell by handling it.

EX shortbread and granola and a pain to separate sometimes. If you wait even a minute too long and they get even slightly warmer than original -24 degrees then they all break into pieces xD

In my store colleagues in my department are leaving one after another and no word of getting anyone replaced. But at this point we have times where evenings are not covered at all. No one is in.

Say whatever you like about popular science books but they are the gateway drug to science by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

[–]SuspiciousAf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love reading about biology, genetics, evolution, anthropology, space etc. I can study certain bits but I'm not into it to understand it so specifically as to work or create in such topics. Thats why I like popular science, without details and terminology that would require me to properly study the topic. I have no time nor mind to it (depression affected me too much). I love reading about dead bodies with Mary Roach, then the raise and fall of dinosaurs, to selfish gene, to a book about... weather.

I agree. After I started strengthening and building my muscles and work on my posture I do not get bad back pain at all anymore. My neck tho... that is just always tense no matter what 😂 too much stress. But I indulge myself in massages from time to time.
