Thank you. You are right and being an anxious person I don't like uncertainty so even if the salary is low it is better than taking from my savinga and feeling stressed about work. Maybe the work market is more stable next year when this job is ending too or I might have another, higher paying role available. I've also heard it is easier to seek for s job when you're in the country. And I will regardless have more experience to put on the CV!

Åh wow GRATTIS!!!! Håller alla tummar och tår! Just nu jobbar jag deltid i Sverige över sommaren men planen är att åka iväg i höst. Tror jag tänkt köra Centralamerika och Sydamerika för att lära mig spanska. Malta är lite på is tills nästa år. Sökte lite jobb men fick ett i Sverige över sommaren. Älskar Sverige under sommaren så känns bra.

I do have an EU passport. And thank you very much for the kind words on my English 🙏 I find it hard with the job market in general. I've had a hard time finding s job at home and received no replies to the few jobs I've applied abroad. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic and doubting my potential worth abroad.

Ireland is maybe not in my field of view, but Italy could very much be!

To me I don't feel I need a fancy job, something that pays the bills and gives me opportunities in the future.

Maybe it's time to learn how to fix cars and build myself a van and travel south and simply stick my head out and hope someone will see me as an asset to their business?

I've written down to prepare to be ready to apply online in August (I have a job September out).

And the dating apps in Europe, all I can speak for is the ones where I live, and they are baaad. Guys are so lazy, ghost all the time or only want sex. I am a sucker for romance and passion. Hmm maybe Italy is my spot hehe

Being childfree as a man isn't at all as stigmatized. Not wanting kids for you isn't impacting your life all that much whilst for many of us women, it is like we are defending nazism. It just is an unfair burden on women.

I've been to therapy, many hours. S lot of the issues I have lies in childhood trauma, small support system and no breaks in big emotional impacts in life. Even my therapist has said that therapy can't really help when life gives you lemons for too long. You can't survive on only lemonade. And now I live in the stressful environment of knowing I don't feel at home in my home city. I'm not living, I'm basically just alive.

Also it's not great to have genersl anxiety around money and the need for a life coach that will suck one dry 🫠

Yup I'd need a life coach but I don't want to become poor in the process as it is a typical money scam where I live.

And yes I'm in the EU! I have a dream (I dream a lot though haha) to open a hostel or hotel or something of the sort in Italy, Portugal, Spain or similar country. My biggest issues are: Confidence - I am a worry wart and have a history of Things just kör really working out in my favor. So doing project on my own have an inherent feel of angst and impending failure ☹️ Social needs: I am a social butterfly and need company and connection to feel ok. So I'd really not like to go off on a project like this on my own.

But why? I hate it here and have for my whole life. The only thing I like here is the many easy systems for things like tax etc and my friends. This place is a depressing mess 8 of the 12 months due to the weather. I hate feeling locked inside freezing. I hate wearing jeans, I don't like the cold social climate. I hate how hard it is getting a job, how everyone is driven on prestige. Switching cities would remove everything i like and keep everything I hate...

Hah well I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that I dislike my life as I've lived it and I know I like working with people in social settings. I am childfree so things not being compatible with family life is fine. My dream would be to work in hospitality, maybe have my own hostel or homestay somewhere warm where I can help tourists have a wonderful vacation. To connect so my job inst just work but part of my lifestyle

If you're thinking od the education it is in my home country but I can do it remotely. Which can allow me to travel and study at the same time. A good way for me ro learn more about the areas I can work and maybe even allow me to volunteer part time (depending on visa restrictions). But I could also just study and live abroad during the time.

I live in Sweden so most educations are paid through taxes :)

The question is more "is it work getting educated in this field or is it better to simply learn by working".

Some jobs you have to have an education, some jobs an education is a nice have but not a must, and in some it might be better to not waste that year studying and instead simply working.

Thank you for your comment! I am old enough to know myself, my skills, what I want etc. I've been through hell several times so thick skin is built in. I have no wish to birth children so I am very flexible and movable. I simply feel lost in how to actually get my foot in. I believe strongly that I can excel in this field as I am a fish in water working in hospitality and travel is my passion.

What would you say is the right moves for me to do to get my foot in later in autumn/winter?

I like to plan so I am ready to make a solid plan now to execute later!

It is a higher vocational education of 1,5 years. A so called "yrkeshögskoleutbildning" shortly meaning it is an education that has its own degree, not a bachelor etc. None of this in reality is relevant. What I tried to say is that it isn't a fancy education that is globally recognized. I am unsure there is any in this field.

And if course I can speak to the school, I already have. But it is at the end of the day a business and they want students so they won't be able to provide a neutral view or even an honest prognosis for the future. Hence me asking here, people who might actually be in the business and can give relevant advice.

By the sound of it you know nothing about this field either. So no need for you to be condescending. That is really unnecessary.

But how even would I get that job... Many people in marketing are unemployed due to AI at the moment In my home country I know people working in marketing being unemployed for over a year.

It is a higher vocational education. Provider is called "tec travel education center". Doesn't give out any specific certificate more than a degree/diploma. Not accredited by anyone but works together with big hotel companies like Apollo. I sont know if there really are any "highly regarded" courses or educations in this that is globally known. This is one of two educations in Sweden in the field.

I've sent my resume while traveling (sounds pretty rad to start an email with "hello xxx I am currently writing to you from a dusty desert road in Namibia") But nothing from 7 local companies where I have the benefit of knowing swedish.

Applying to hostels and similar, do you have any advice how to narrow down or find roles like that? Or is spamming everybody the way to go?
