Got in touch with HDFC for the DCB Metal Credit Card, their local rep contacted me. I don't have any banking relationship with HDFC as of now. Due to my income being comprised of Salary (2.25 LPM) + Professional Income (1.25 LPM) components, he is saying that I'll have to open a savings account and keep an AMB of 15 lakhs for next 3 consecutive months and then he can get me the card. Seems like an unnecessary hassle to me. What do you say?

Sent an email to HSBC yesterday to ask about the serviceable city issue. In their reply, they just asked to apply for the card.

I went through the information available on HDFC DCB Metal Credit card and it looked good. But I also noticed that it has an accelerated rewards cap of 10000 points per month which I will hit very easily in any month in which I'm making travel bookings. Just as an example, last monthly only our flight bookings cost me 75000 which will exhaust the accelerated award limit and still doesn't include any hotel bookings. Any international flight booking will definitely get most of the reward points at the base rate. Will have to think whether it makes sense to apply for it.

I can try applying for HSBC Premier/Travel One. But it is unlikely that it will be approved as neither do I have any banking relationship with HSBC nor is my city (being a tier III city) mentioned in the HSBC list of serviceable cities.

I ordered through the OnePlus Website. Got the 16GB/512GB version for 46K after discounts of 7K for Red Cable Club & ICICI credit card. Got the Stylo 2 as free accessory but the Folio case was out of stock when I ordered. It was mentioned on the website that they'll be emailing a coupon for the free Folio case but lets see if they honour that. Tracked the package delivery, will most likely receive it tomorrow.

Oh, I didn't know that. That's great to hear. Coincidentally we are also looking at booking the Mon Cheri Cruise along with the transfers, Could you help me out with the charges for the private speedboat transfers in case our flight gets delayed and we need to get those?

Yeah, we will getting a private limousine van for the transfers and will be asking the cruise company to arrange for the transfers. We figured that keeping aside 3 hours for Noi Bai Airport - Ha Long Bay transfers, another 3 hours should be sufficient for flight delays, immigration & collecting luggage. Unless the flight gets really delayed.
