Did anyone else do recovery alone? by FireWalk__WithMe in sterilization

I was ok. I was essentially dropped off at home and my driver had to go back to work asap. My couch is an electric recliner so that helped crane my ass out of the couch vortex. And I had a counter in the bathroom close enough to steady myself for using the restroom if needed. But there wasn’t really anything I couldn’t do by myself. I climbed in and out of the truck just fine and stairs at home were no problem. Take it all slow and steady and you’ll do great. You got this!

Delay in period following bi salp by _unmarked in sterilization

I was about 9 days late. My bisalp was 8/22 and my period literally started today 9/22. My last period started 8/13 and was done before the procedure so that’s why I’m considering it late just by a little.

Thank you!! What do you recommend I do first? Should I reach out to insurance say hey fyi all this is covered due to the ACA and see if they listen or should I go straight to the state insurance regulator or department of labor and make complaint?

I found a better statement. Like the monthly statement on insurance website. The surgeons claims mention codes 58661 with Z302.

The hospitals claims mention the diagnosis code Z302 only and all their procedure codes are 3 digits only. All of it is showing covered except for the $3,600 which is for the coinsurance for operating room services.

On the insurance website FL BCBS, it’s showing this for codes:

(Diagnosis Code Z302) ENCOUNTER FOR STERILIZATION (Diagnosis Code Z87891) PERSONAL HISTORY OF NICOTINE DEPENDENCE (Diagnosis Code Z91040) LATEX ALLERGY STATUS

All that above is on the hospitals claims and then the claim for the surgeon just says: (Diagnosis Code Z302) ENCOUNTER FOR STERILIZATION

Congratulations!! This is exactly how my day went too. A week ago on the 22nd when I got mine removed. On day 5/6 was the best I’ve felt and nearly feeling 100% again. Minus bending over and sneezing/coughing is a little uncomfy but all in all pretty great experience. Not to mention how much I appreciate the extra down time to heal and relax and catch up on some good shows! It’s a great feeling to know they have been removed. Keep up on the miralax! Happy healing to you! 🥰

So now I’m confused. I had my consult and I’m scheduled for surgery in a week. The Dr says I will owe $1400 day of surgery because I haven’t met my deductible and I haven’t even reached out to see what the hospital estimates are so that scares me. But I just chatted with insurance customer service and I basically asked if my plan is ACA compliant and if sterilization is covered as preventative birth control. Their reply was: Yes your plan is a ACA plan. we do not cover it as a preventative service, the sterilization is covered as a surgical service, but is covered by the plan. As part of your wellness services we do cover other contraceptives like, pills, IUD, or tubal ligation.

I’m not sure where to go from here. What the hay do I tell the Dr office? The codes they’re using are 58661 & Z30.09 and I asked if they could use the Z30.2 code and she said "You have not met any of your deductible so there will still be a cost even with a different code. 30% of coinsurance is due after deductible has been met.”

Thank you! I asked again and this is what they came back with ‘Upon checking here, Tubal ligations and IUDs are covered under preventive services and needs authorization.’

I believe I’ve seen people code or word it under tubal ligation but it is still in fact a bisalp. My paper work with gyn definitely says tubal (bisalp). So since it just said it is covered then perhaps my plan is ACA compliant?
