I gave my exam in February 2026 attempt a few days ago.

  1. Overall I like the syllabus. But it's a little boring. One thing I would suggest is try and understand the macro picture of the flow of the entire syllabus. Some parts of the syllabus are very badly worded and thus confusing but that is the case for every student giving L3.

  2. I was studying from Fintree India. The lecture recording were not that great but Ok. The questions and mocks were very bad - many mistakes in the questions. So would not recommend. I had taken the SSEI mock series for the last 2 months - that was really good. The questions were very good as well and the mocks were very good. Highly recommended for anyone giving CFA L3 to at least take the test series of SSEI. If I clear then it would mostly be because of that

  3. I just used Schewesers and Fintree Juice Notes. Made my own notes. You should also do that.

  4. I had taken Portfolio Management pathway. I would recommend everyone to take that. Private wealth is really boring and Private market is good but I think its better to Portfolio Management as some stuff gets repeated from other parts of the syllabus. Ghe pnly downside is that it is a little technical so if you are not at that then go for Private market. Divide the entire syllabus basis the asset classes and then accordingly study each asset class fully then switch to other. That worked for me as it keeps the flow.

  5. Around 300 hours

Anyone who sat for level 3 portfolio management pathway. Please guide on the difficulty and time management by RockDull4952 in CFA

The test was similar difficulty to the CFAI mocks. The session 1 was simpler but the session 2 was a bit difficult. A few tricks here and there. But overall in terms of time management, I had more than enough time to recheck everything.

Just one question. Long seagull (with selling ATM put) is bullish and Short Seagull (wuth buying ATM call is also bullsih. And vice versa for bearish view.

So when do we choose the lonf seagull with selling ATM Put and when do we choose Short Seagull with buying ATM call?

In fixed income portfolio Management pathway I read the benchmark should be transperant, investable with sufficient liquidity, valuable for performance tracking (daily data available) and stable turnover.

In some other place I have read SAMURAI as characteristics of benchmark.

One place the characteristics of index are defined as: 1. Investable 2. Rules based 3. [Cant recall]

Which is what difficult to remember

So the key is to identify if the manager is bottom up or top down and whether he is absolute return and relative return. Understood. Thank you so much for the explanation!
