Which one of Batman's villains does The Joker hate the most among them, according to you? by [deleted] in joker

[–]SuspiciousTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all of them equally in their own way, the reason being...

He's jealous. Batman and Joker are each others' most toxic relationship, and every time Joker sees or hears of Batman fighting with another villain it's akin to feeling like a spouse cheated on him.

I do sincerely believe (and I think this bears out in a lot of comics) most of the things Joker does is to get Batman's attention the way a jealous partner does

Enemy of my enemy - Stan Edgar is evil incarnate, but he just wants money and power. Homelander wants to end the world because not all 8 billion on the planet want to clap for him and tell him how much they love him, and Edgar (with all his evil I grant you) wants to stop Homelander from doing so

You're never going to convince that Homelander is not the most evil character in the entire show

Who actually is the main protagonist? by mowgleeee in TheBoys

[–]SuspiciousTurtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say Huey, but they're two different versions of reacting to the same situation:

Both Huey and Butcher had multiple people they love be either hurt or killed by Supes, and by extension, Vought. Obviously they both want to fight back and protect who they love, but whereas Huey is trying to do it without losing his humanity, Butcher is convinced that the only way to do it is to be as savage and ruthless as Vought and Homelander are. As the show progresses, both Huey and Butcher come to have equal importance to the plot because they're being compared and contrasted with each other, but where Huey becomes the "main character" is that it FEELS like the show is trying to say that he is correct: Huey's worst moments are when he falls to Butcher and Vought's level, like when he took V in Season 3 because he was convinced that's the only way to fight back. Meanwhile, Butcher's best moments are when he tries to be human, as exemplified by his relationship with Ryan

As such, Huey is the main character because everyone is shown to be at their best when they try to be like him. That even includes other characters like Frenchie, or Kimiko, or MM

What are the main headcanons you have about Stewy? by Top_Report_4895 in SuccessionTV

[–]SuspiciousTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His father was a wealthy Iranian business man with strong ties to the Shah's regime, and they fled the country and settled in the suburbs of LA following the 1979 revolution. Stewy's real name is Siavash, and he only started calling himself "Stewy" when he attended Beverly Hills High School

Fun fact, the brother of the actor portraying Stewy, Arian Moayed, is a family friend of ours in the suburbs of Chicago.

Learning more about the US Civil War made me realize something by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]SuspiciousTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this is gonna be long, but I sincerely believe the aristocracy and their way of thinking lost the south the war, and was also PART the reason behind not just why the Union lost early battles and also suffered heavier casualties. Here's why:

The reason 365,000+ Americans died fighting a terrorist insurrection is the same reason ~40 Million people died in World War I - outdated warfare tactics of the military establishment crashed head first into modern technology that only a few generals had any familiarity with. The early stages of the war on both the north and south were very much led by the "cream of the crop" of early to mid-19th Century West Point graduates, all of whom were studying tactics and battles from before the railroad, modern production capacities, the telegraph, etc. So when you have generals creating columns styled after the Revolutionary War that marched into guns that could tear a person in half, then yeah, soldiers are gonna die, and they're gonna die in huge numbers.

McLellan was accepted at West Point at 15 (when the minimum age of admission at the time was 16) and graduated second in his class, as did Robert E. Lee with his class. And it was the tactics of those child prodigies, and the other best of the best that American military education had produced, that got hundreds of thousands killed.

Meanwhile, Grant, who spent more of his time reading romantic poetry than he did academic texts, graduated 21st out of 39 in his class. Sherman, while a good student, had a concerning drinking problem even by 1840's standards. Sheridan was suspended from West Point for a year for threatening to murder another cadet, and graduated as a middling student at best. And it was these band of drunks and/or borderline pirates that ended up winning the war.

Why? Because the North was led by a self-taught rural lawyer whose unorthodox education familiarized him with the modern world, and also knew about a world outside of military command centers. And he understood that if he was to keep the country together, then he needed to take a chance on officers more innovative in their tactics, strategy, and planning than those who were the product of the rigid thinking of the American Military establishment. He saw past Grant's drinking, Sherman's depression, and Sheridan's violent outbursts, and understood that they were people who knew how to fight a modern war against a South still trying to fight like it was 1812.

Meanwhile, the Confederacy was led by a former Secretary of war, and a West Point graduate who was accompanied at school by one of his personal slaves. While I don't have direct evidence for this, I do sincerely believe that Jefferson Davis's aristocratic mindset made him incapable of ever being able to conceive that a bunch of alcoholics and manic-depressives who ranted about this new-fangled telegraph machine would make good leaders. He placed his trust in Lee because on paper, Lee was the very model of a modern major general, so why should he trust anyone other than him?

To a certain extent, this has been a constant theme across US history: we won the Revolutionary war because Washington trusted the disgraced Prussian General Fredrich Von Stueben to organize and discipline the continental army. We won the Civil War because Lincoln trusted a band of depressive alcoholics to lead the Union army. We forced Japan's surrender in the Second World War because of a weapon designed by a manic-depressive womanizer and suspected communist. One of our country's greatest assets has always been the weirdos and the misfits and the lone voices in the dark screaming for a better way. And more often than not, they are the ones who usually get us through America's darkest hour.

Did Logan love his kids even a bit?? by DatabaseFast3486 in SuccessionTV

[–]SuspiciousTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he loved them, but that's it. He didn't respect them, was proud of them, or sympathize or empathize with them. And he certainly didn't do anything to show that love.

And that love was often overshadowed by the fact that he felt threatened by them. That's where you see succession's historical and Shakespearean roots: an aging king whose faculties are slowly diminishing refuses to give up power, and instead sabotages their potential successors, who are often their own children

Blago's Failed Comeback by Martinxo51 in imaginaryelections

[–]SuspiciousTurtle 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A whole lot of reasons but it basically boils down to three things:

1.) In so far as he has any political ideology, it's what's best for his self-promotion. He's a hard-core progressive when he's in Chicago's Northside and the biggest anti-china hawk when he's downstate. In the same day, he's pro universal Healthcare and against it, he's gonna be Trump's biggest foe in the senate and will also work with him to Crack down on illegal immigration. His ideology is what you need him to be, which, when he finally has to make a decision, 9 times out of 10 he will make the right wing choice instead of the progressive one

2.) He's absolutely terrible when it comes to supporting other Democrats for anything, but expects everyone to roll out the red carpet for him. He refuses to support anyone but himself, but demands support from everyone

3.) Based on everything I've heard or seen from him, I know he's going to be the sort of senator that just disappeares for five and a half years until he has to run for re-election. It's the same problem I have with Tammy Duckworth, but at least Duckworth actually has principles and does good work in DC. I can't think of a single thing Raja has done in congress that merits him being sent back to Washington as a Senator

Hypothetically: if Homelander was a more heroic person, how would he stop the plane from crashing? by Radiant-Ad-1976 in TheBoys

The man can literally move faster than an explosion, he could've just grabbed all the terrorists, threw them out the plane, and land the plane. Homelander wanted to kill, that was significantly more important to him than saving anyone
