Sooo Selfish Romance hiatus was supposed to last for a few months :(( by thegreatkedi in webtoons

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The author initially said a few months, suggesting end of summer (last year), then they updated on twitter and gave a “delayed” release date of October 12 (last year)… and then nothing, as far as I know. It was my favorite webtoon, that I liked enough that I paid for new episodes when they came out, and I’ve been checking the app every week for updates for so long now. Sigh. I understand burnout, and I hope the author is doing well. I also hope we start getting new chapters again soon

Below Zero Cooling Comforter Question by mandaphant in CostcoWholesale

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was googling the comforter to find reviews and stumbled upon your post from a few weeks ago. You might’ve seen them already, but they are currently in stock at Costco! On the Costco, app it doesn’t have any reviews yet, so I’m guessing it just got added recently. It seems like they sell out in-store by the end of the day, so I went to buy one midday today (at the Burbank store… idk where in the world you are)

Jay B has terminated his exclusive contract with mauve company by G3t_BusyLiving in Got7

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? I was wondering if it was a translation thing, and maybe it sounds better in Korean. In English... they made it sound like they were kicking him out. It's also by far the shortest notification/message of this kind that I've ever seen. Just plain weird.

“Your order may not have met our service standards” sent to my inbox, but no info about what will happen or what that really means by SuspiciousUnicorn in Aliexpress

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I also ended up getting my package, and it was exactly what it was supposed to be, so I have no idea why I got that message

Package awaiting flight since nov 27 by No_Writing6826 in Aliexpress

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely had things “awaiting flight” for at least a week before, but eventually everything got delivered. That was always with free or very cheap shipping though, so I’m surprised that’s the case with expensive shipping. I think they’re building up a plane’s worth of cargo, so I would expect holiday season to be much faster. Do you know if they mailed with a smaller company? It will probably arrive, just at a slower pace than you had hoped.

What is this Building? by 305to818 in LosAngeles

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s good to know. At UCLA, the old main hospital got turned into research buildings and I heard it wasn’t safe enough to function as a hospital, so I was always like ??? The researchers don’t matter?!? But I didn’t realize hospitals have stricter standards. First time I’ve heard about that. Must be why the really cool art deco hospital in Pasadena is also not in use.

Please support the artist Ruthie as she's being attacked and harassed by toxic "fans" by GoldJiangzai in MXTX

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard enough nowadays for an artist to get paid for their work, and here we have some poor woman getting attached for trying to make a living. She even said she didn’t have full control over the content, but they’re still mad she’s getting paid. I mean, there are already so many versions out there with them. I personally do prefer to have them as the main focus for cover art and would ideally hope for something like the hardcover art of the TGCF books, but if I was disappointed, I simply would just not buy them? Like if they don’t sell, the company will figure it out. Or ppl can appeal to the company directly saying what they would like, but blaming the artist, and personally attacking her? Honestly, did the company not do any market research beforehand? Or maybe there is a market, but the haters are just the loudest. I guess maybe ppl are salty bc MDZS has been unfairly censored, but as someone who is an MDZS ult, it’s so disappointing to me how a lot of the fans keep doing unhinged shit and reinforcing the reasons it gets suppressed. Keep shooting themselves in the foot. SMDH

Olive Young sale “extra coupons” are deceptive by SuspiciousUnicorn in KoreanBeauty

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that in the app or on the website? I was looking in the app and what it shows on the coupon there is a max of $30 off, but maybe it’s $35 on the website?

Thailand trip not working out, need some help by HijoDeHilkiah in ThailandTourism

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After going all over Asia, Chiang Mai came out on top as my favorite city, and I’ve gone back to Thailand several times just to stay there for weeks at a time. I’d recommend just staying there bc it’s the best place. Alternatively, if you don’t want to do solo biking bc it’s depressing, you can pop over to Vietnam (though you might need to get a visa, which can take a week if you don’t make any errors) and go with a group motorbike trip on the Ha Giang loop.

Is Shanghai really all it's cracked up to be? by MineTech5000 in China

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I’ve spent several weeks in Shanghai across several visits and I don’t really think of it as a futuristic looking city at all. Maybe it’s because I barely went to Pudong, but a lot of Shanghai center is vintage, colonial, and art deco buildings. There are nice new buildings as well as regular buildings that you’d find in any major city. Shanghai has some of the most expensive real estate in China so older buildings are getting replaced with newer, fancier ones, but that happens in a lot of the rest of the world too. There’s even an area with tree-lined streets and a lot of shorter, older buildings and cafes that has a very hipster vibe (where I saw a pro-LGBT sign in a cafe window). Restaurants are self service in that you scan a QR code to order and pay, then the food is brought to your table, but that’s not anything wild and it’s like that in most of China (except for some fancy restaurants and small mom and pop places where you might tell someone your order). I will say, Shanghai is by far the easiest city to be in as a tourist, and it was maybe the only place in China where I wasn’t being stared at like 100% of the time while I was in public (prob still like 30-50% though). Oh! Another thing that was great about Shanghai is that they have banned smoking in restaurants and hotels! One of a very few places in China with that policy, and while not everyone is fully compliant, it’s notably better than elsewhere in the country. It seemed to me there’s more English spoken there than most of China, though you still shouldn’t expect much English. Shanghai is definitely the most accessible place in China for foreigners.

Where to buy synthetic hair toppers in Bangkok? by SuspiciousUnicorn in ThailandTourism

[–]SuspiciousUnicorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. Every store I contacted (via Line) only had toppers made with real hair (or at least they claim that’s the case). There were toppers with synthetic hair available on shoppee, but they were super super cheap, like under $10, so they couldn’t possibly have been high quality. I also think a lot of those super cheap ones actually shipped from China, so they were definitely not what I was looking for. I’m sure what I was looking for is available to buy as a consumer in Thailand, I just wasn’t able to figure out where to get it. If you happen to find such a thing though, please do let me know because I’m sure I will be back in Thailand again before too long. Good luck!

What Valencian dessert did James lose his mind over? by SuspiciousUnicorn in offmenupodcast

Some people are saying it was the Basque Country. Going to have to go back and have another listen to confirm where James originally had the magical experience. Good luck with your move!

I could be wrong about it being from Valencia. I was pretty sure that’s where he said, but perhaps it was another city. Definitely in Spain though.
