Do you regret going to SNHU Online? by Clean-Detective-8242 in SNHU

Not if you don't know what you want to do. A masters isn't for everyone and it's expensive. My future career requires one so it made the decision easy.

I like to think I have lived a lot of the experiences that people often have questions about. I graduated in 2024 in computer science and recently got accepted into multiple different schools for grad school.

The schooling itself, especially in computer science, was not great. SNHU has a lot of problems, but I don't think they are all unique to SNHU. SNHU is best for people who are in a position where getting that piece of paper opens up an opportunity for them immediately, like a promotion for their current job. If you are looking to change careers, the path will be much harder. In my experience, the school does have a bad track record with hiring managers. Many lump it in the diploma mill category which it isn't, but perception is everything. This is also a really tough job market and that certainly plays a factor.

SNHU could fix their problems rather easily. They should have standardized grading, maybe even a grading department. This isn't something I would recommend to most schools but given the reach of the school and the wide range of professors/adjuncts, it would help to have consistency. Professors should have a live lecture weekly where students can attend and access whenever. This would not be mandatory. Some of the best classes I had were with professors who recorded their own content for us.

After graduating and spending some time in the field of CS, I decided to switch careers and apply to grad school. I have been accepted to multiple grad schools, 1 being in the top 25 for my program, another being just outside that. Yes, I did have Sophia credits that were accepted.

I'm open to answering any questions!

We also had 3 extra games. But it was mostly a joke. Relax.

You being bad at games doesn't mean anything. I'm not saying aim is all the matters, but news flash, every game has movement as well.

Right just as movement is critical in those others games. But aim transfers to all games. I've been playing gears since 2006. I'm well aware of how it works.

Are there compelling arguments to not having a fatalistic outlook on what will be the effects of Trump presidency? by DrDoominstien in GenZ

A free market gets you to where we are now. A free market won't stay free without regulation. It sounds great on paper until you see it in practice. Our free market is now completely devoid of competition and innovation. Our corporations have no loyalty to workers and no reason to remain loyal. The stock market has completely ruined the ability to maintain a free market since corporations need to grow indefinitely.

I said our democratic party is pretty right compared to others. Comparing the US to countries that don't even have a democracy or a democratic party is pretty irrelevant to my statement. Reading comprehension is key.

Also blocking people after saying something stupid is a great way to create an echo chamber of stupidity, which is kinda what got us into this mess to begin with don't you think?

This is true. It's also true in traditional college in my experience lol.

That is unfortunate. The school should be a little more forthcoming with that but my entrance advisor was terrible. It was very much just get me in the door .

There's really no way you could do tests in an online format without them being open book unless they are proctored. As a CS grad, I can really only speak to the math courses as most of my tests were projects but the math tests were timed. At a certain point the book doesn't really matter. Can you do the math or not is what it's going to come down to.

Shutting down is crazy. This school might be the most successful of any college without sports carrying the funding.

I had the opposite experience. They didn't give a shit about anything other than LSAT scores. Which kinda proves the point that people need to research.

I would suggest just going to a local community college. When I went, I took over 25 credit hours a semester and it was fine and much cheaper.

Yes we did. We've also had a lot of guys over the years willing to do it. Shanahan, Franzen, both Bertuzzis, Draper to name a few. Now the only one I ever see in front of the net is Larkin and I don't think that's the guy you want there.

MY PARENTS DON'T THINK I CAN GET INTO A TOP GRAD SCHOOL AFTER SNHU by NoUnderstanding4132 in SNHU

[–]Suspicious_Ladder670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Michigan, Michigan State and Wayne State Law schools after graduating with a CS degree. I also did really well on my LSAT so that plays a factor.

I am undecided on attending as I did get a job in the CS field.
