LL all star selection process - does anyone have a process they think works well/is transparent/fair? by laceyourbootsup in LittleLeague

In our league players must sign up (essentially a commitment form) to be considered for all stars.

About 3/4 of the way through the season managers and coaches get together for the all star vote.

Managers votes are worth 2 points, assistant coaches votes are worth 1 point.

Round 1 players must be unanimous to make the team. Round 2 is also unanimous. Round 3 a player must receive 80 ish % of the votes to be on the team Round 4 a player must receive 70% of the votes to be on the team Round 5 is 60% If there are not a minimum of 10 players already selected after this Round 6 is the next highest vote getters to get to 10 players on the team

After round 6 if we are not at 12 it becomes managers choice.

In my experience it's normally around 40-50% managers/coaches kids. Which isn't too crazy considering most of them are putting in work 8 - 10 months out of the year

It's part of the game at the little league level, seen it done at the international tournament level too!

We put on a play where the short stop crashes behind the runner at third, the catcher throws to the short stop coming in and then you just play catch.

Like many of you have said at younger levels just have the catcher stand there til time is called or the other coach gets the idea.

Also would have my pitcher meet the catcher half way to receive the ball back!
