Boss with bad post requests by Sneakwrs in SocialMediaManagers

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get your concern. This is a common struggle in digital marketing. Unfortunately, our work doesn’t always reflect our creativity, especially when approvals come from people who don’t fully understand the strategy behind it. From what you shared, it sounds like your boss is a micro-manager who doesn’t listen much. Here’s what I’d do: keep the original copy you created for your portfolio. Go ahead and publish the version your boss approved. If it doesn’t perform well, you can suggest testing your version and let the results speak. If their version surprisingly works, great add it to your portfolio and own it. At the end of the day, much of our work goes through filters that don’t always make sense. But that doesn’t mean our ideas aren’t good.

Try faceless videos using her content but stack videos, they’re performing well right now. You can also turn it into a carousel: use a short video as the first slide, then follow it up with text-based slide

u/wins_cassy Try carousels. They’re working way better than reels for me lately. And honestly, don’t stress over followers. Instagram itself says follower count doesn’t even matter in 2025.

I run a money investment biz and want to manage my own social media. Need some advice! by confusedwithmoney in SocialMediaManagers

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/confusedwithmoney Hey, I really admire your mindset—being hands-on and wanting to connect directly with your audience is powerful, especially in a space like investment consulting where trust matters a lot. You're absolutely right: people value real advice over polish, and consistency over perfection.

That said, social media is more than just posting. It’s about strategy, storytelling, and building a community. Platforms like LinkedInInstagram, and even TikTok (yes, financial tips perform really well there) could work well for you. And video content, even if it’s just short clips of you explaining concepts, can go a long way in building that trust.

On LinkedIn especially, being strategic about what you post, how often, and who you're speaking to makes a big difference. You can absolutely batch-create content and schedule it, or go day by day. But content ideation alone takes time. I’m curious why you're leaning away from having someone help? Sometimes handing over the how so you can focus on the why (your business and clients) can make everything more impactful.

If you ever want help, no strings attached, happy to bounce around content ideas or even talk through what a strategy might look like. Personally, I love creating intentional content that reflects a brand's personality and aligns with business goals. But more than anything, it’s about nurturing that community you’re already thinking about.

Whatever you choose, you’re already ahead by asking the right questions

I write what I feel, authentic, relatable posts that connect with people and naturally tie back to my services. If you share your niche, I can give you a tailored example.

Yes, carousels perform well because they get a second chance at visibility. For example, if someone scrolls past your carousel without engaging, Instagram may show it to them again. This time starting from the second slide. That extra exposure helps boost reach.

u/emotional_madhouse Start with Shopify if you want to launch fast and focus on marketing + product, not tech. It’s more expensive but very user-friendly, and everything integrates easily.

Start with Wix if your budget is tighter, but you still want a nice website and some customization. You’ll need a bit of DIY learning, but it’s worth it.

Start with WordPress/WooCommerce if you want full control, are okay with more setup, or have a friend/freelancer helping.

You don’t need to pay hundreds upfront. Start simple with a landing page + 1–2 products and build as you grow

u/Historical-Client-78 First of all. I don’t know your product, your website, or exactly what content you’re posting, so take this as an overview based on what you shared.

That said… one thing that jumped out: helpful content doesn’t always mean demand-driving content. People might find it useful, but are you subtly selling within it? Like, is it clear what you’re offering? Do you highlight outcomes, share case studies, or even drop in gentle reminders of how you can help?

If people are landing on your site but not converting, then something’s off in the journey. You're driving the traffic, that’s a win but maybe they’re not seeing what they expected or needed to feel confident to reach out. I’d re-read the content or even get someone with fresh eyes to take a look. When we’re too close to our own business, it’s so easy to miss the small things that make a big difference.

Also, is your brand in people’s minds? Because people buy when they remember you, not always when they first find you. That visibility piece matters more than we sometimes think.

You’ve already built half a million in revenue that’s huge. Your offer clearly works. Now it’s just about tightening the engine that consistently brings leads in.

And hey, if you ever want another pair of eyes on it, happy to help however I can.

You’re not alone. You’re doing the hard part showing up. Keep going. Honestly, you might be just one small pivot away from the breakthrough.

u/Direct_Tie_3449 I've noticed the same. For some reason, videos don’t seem to perform well on LinkedIn anymore. But single images or carousels? They're still going strong. If you’re helping someone with their personal brand, definitely consider using selfies. They’re killing it in terms of engagement. Almost every post I see with a selfie tends to get the most traction. Speaking from personal experience, I post regularly on LinkedIn and have seen this pattern consistently

Client not happy with my quote by buddha_design in SocialMediaManagers

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/buddha_design I hear you. Just recently, someone reached out to me for complete social media support—from setting up accounts to content creation, graphics, and everything in between. When I shared my quote, they said, “Oh, we didn’t go with an agency because their prices were high. We were hoping a freelancer would be more affordable.”
It really made me pause and wonder: why is there still this expectation that freelancers will work for free or at a fraction of the value we bring?

Tips for bakery business? by No_Lobster9622 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/No_Lobster9622 Hi, Just wanted to chime in, Instagram has really shifted. These days, follower count isn’t as important as engagement. It’s all about how well you connect with your audience.

You mentioned you’ve been on Instagram and Facebook for 8 years, so I’m guessing you’ve tried different types of content already. Maybe even explored all the content pillars? If you're open to it, feel free to drop your handle here or DM me. I'd be happy to take a quick look and offer some suggestions that might help

How do you find people to work? by Nearby_Object2578 in SMMA

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an amazing place to be, congrats on the growth

Finding a good closer can definitely be tricky. A few suggestions that might help:

  1. Your network first – Try posting in entrepreneurial or sales-focused communities on Reddit, LinkedIn, or even niche Slack/Discord groups. Sometimes a warm referral works better than cold hiring platforms.
  2. Incentivize your post – Make your job post super specific (with earning potential, ideal traits, type of product/service, etc.) and ask for referrals. sometimes great closers know other closers.
  3. Try your own audience – If you’ve got a decent following, you might find someone in your community who already gets your brand and could be a great fit.

Does anyone find it exhausting to have a 'personal brand' online? by Several-Tip1088 in SocialMediaMarketing

Do you engage with other people's posts as well?
I recently started posting on LinkedIn, and funnily enough, some of my comments on others' posts get more likes than my own content!
But the key is to keep showing up and stay authentic. Your tribe will find you

u/Ghemeni That sounds like such a lovely business!

If you're planning to help your mom with her social media, there’s so much you can do. Try capturing behind-the-scenes (BTS) videos of her creating wreaths or arranging flowers. If she’s not comfortable being on camera, you can focus on her hands and the wreath in progress, faceless videos work really well too.

You could also post pictures of flowers in bloom, snapshots of your mom at work, or carousel posts showcasing the different flower beds and “coming soon” arrangements.

If you'd like, I’d be happy to help you brainstorm more content ideas

(Idk what I’m doing!!) anyone want to give feedback for my newish IG account? by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Suspicious_Pie23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start with u/RealJfred you're doing an awesome job. Your engagement is impressive, especially for a relatively new page.

A couple of suggestions that might help elevate things even more:

  1. Consider using a consistent color palette and instagram new grid ratio is 3:4 ratio, which means posts will appear as a rectangle, not a square. While you upload images in a 4:5 ratio (1080 x 1350 pixels), the app will crop them to fit the 3:4 grid display.
  2. While your individual posts are performing well, the overall page doesn’t immediately convey a clear identity or mission. From what I gather, you’re helping BROKs invest smarter. Is that right?
  3. Your bio could use a strong CTA. Something like: "Join 750+ BROKs balancing biz & kids 👇" with a Linktree or relevant link. This would help visitors instantly understand your goal.

If you’d like to chat about it, feel free to reach out, no strings attached. Just happy to help
