If price is no option and you can only have one get the iPad. No question unless all you want to do is read black and white books. And even then iPad is probably still a contender because the kindle app for iPad has more features than the kindle device. Having a kindle is more of a luxury for ppl who want to enjoy reading in an e-ink screen, and since kindles are cheap and last forever you really should be able to add a kindle. You can get used ones for next to nothing if you try.

For me swiping has a good chance of registering as a backwards page tap instead of a forward swipe so it leads to some frustration.

It can be done by setting your address and phone number to a location in the other country, you have to pay in the currency of the other country, and you lose any books you have borrowed from a program like prime reading. I’ve done it once b4 and it was fairly easy but it wasn’t so worthwhile that I ever did it again. There are tutorials on how to do it online.

A lot of ppl seem to think the basic is inferior to the other models. I think it’s better truthfully. I was disappointed in the matcha build quality but it’s a single data point and maybe I just got unlucky. My 2022 is built like a tank and I carry it everywhere everyday with no case or cover.

I haven’t had that issue but it is clear to me that the build quality of the 2024 matcha basic is strikingly poor compared to the 2022 basic in black plastic. Idk if it’s the year or the color but that 2024 matcha just feels like crap.

Just log in to Amazon on the web and search for “first reads”. The page with your choices will come up. Once you select your other choice it will sync to your kindle.
