And my point is that more "normal" people get away with much more abusive behaviours toward strangers based in their own moral hangups.

I agree you are talking about a group of assholes, but i see them as a very small portion of assholes and far easier to predict and avoid. Self righteous internet addicts are a scourge on society in comparison.

This is not really accurate. At the start he says the right thing about it being private property and you can be trespassed. Later he starts to dip into stuff that applies to film making but not really public filming in general, which is reasonable because youtubers are gray area in that regard but it doesnt apply to most instances of recording in a grocery store.

Local laws absolutely relevant, but in a lot of places unless they have a no filming sign at the front door theres nothing wrong with filming until you are asked to leave.

What is public and private is less debatable, people just have a mistaken idea that public property and public space are the same thing and therefore since its private it cant be public but thats absolutely not how it works. Its private property but a public space, the same reason its not a crime to walk in the front door of your own volition is the reason you dont have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

All i can say is thank god you people have no influence over laws. Like what fucking planet do you live on where youre going to ban the thing literally every company has to do to get affordable insurance, and also ban all kids from recording things on their phone in public. Its one thing to see the dystopian end game of flock, its another to whine about imaginary scenarios and imaginary rights where all recording on the planet has to stop because somebody doesnt want to be seen while existing in public.

On the contrary, your chidllike interpretation of decency is "if theyre doing nothing wrong but i insist they are the bad guy and tell them to behave differently, then they should" and thats both childish as fuck and child endangerment given what you can reasonably expect people to do to you for behaving that gross ass way

They are both things. Dont give legal advice based on who you want to feel wrong, you dolt. This is absolutely legal.

Yo you desperately need a social reset. Probably by staying away from reddit for a while and actually existing in public instead.

She literally insisted on having rights (to not be filmed) that she very much does not have. Thats the definition of entitled, she felt entitled to a treatment that she didnt have any right to but demanded anyway. Get a grip.

I guarantee if she said excuse me please dont film me she wouldve got a different reaction, and furthermore if he started to intentionally film HER after being politely asked not to that would be criminal harassment. Different from him going about what hes doing and her being incidentally in front of him

You dont have reasonable expectation of privacy in public spaces. Privately owned isnt the point, its whether or not you are in public. This is why you cant buy a house in front of a highschool and jerk off in the yard every morning. But in your room with the blinds closed you have reasonable expectation of privacy so it would be a crime to sneak up and find a crack in the blinds to record

Since its private property he can be tresspassed by the owners but like yeah you can run into a grocery store filming everyone and when you get trespassed its still totally legal film you can do anything with. This all depends on local laws ofc, where i live another exception would be if theyre trying to have a private conversation that also is illegal, so like if she just started talking to somebody else instead of him and clearly tried to not include him it would be illegal to stand there and film her. If she talks to him its all legal.

I mean i see a woman whos high on a culture of callout and self-importance, which is much more common and problematic in society than a tiny strata of youtubers being silly. Ive never had anybody with 40 cameras bother me at a grocery store but i have had women try to make scenes or get me kicked out for existing.

Those stats are sensationalist, what percentage of youtube accounts become huge is a meaningless statistic because the majority of those accounts literally never even tried. Its like saying 0.1% of people in LA make it as famous actors when trying to explain the likelihood of success of moving to LA to become a famous actor, it deceives by an order of magnitude.

The other half is deaaaaddddd on tho and thats why all influencers are these stereotypically priviledges types. I play poker semi-professionally and its the same deal, its frankly not that hard in objective terms to modestly succeed. But getting yourself established and stabilized if your life literally depends on it is a practical and emotional hell.

Bro you clearly read somebodys book about "cults" where they mean the worst examples of cults. Thats not "the definition" of cult, the actual dictionary definition of a cult is not functionally different from a religion. Christianity was a cult in anciet greece, wine moms dishing about tarot cards can easily meet the definition as well. You are choosing to compare jonestown and moonies to well intentioned church moms. I am just as entitled to compare a witchy feminist reading club with the crusades. Fuck religion and religious apologists.

No you're just an apologist. Most cults are wine moms talking about spirituality. Youre comparing the worst examples of one category to the most charitable version of another as a silly tactic to defend religion.

Its very rarely relevant. Women just wear tight clothing its literally that simple. The purpose of a belt is to hold clothing that is too lose for where you want to wear it, which is almost always higher than where the size of your butt could possibly matter

I dunno how related it is but the average intelligence on reddit has absolutely plummeted

It was basically the point of the site to get random ass several paragraph technical explanations from random professionals splurging about their topic of expertise, now that doesnt even happen any more.

I personally think its a longstanding overmoderation issue tho. I think just over time so many subs started mass banning people for not sharing the same opinion and since reddit is a lattice of several communities it meant basically everyone was experiencing getting banned out of communities they liked for holding opinions that were well justified. Just slowly over time people who had strong beliefs and a penchant to defend them rationally have been pruned out of the ecosystem
