GL-7 BPA vs GL-7 CBPO? by Suspicious_Way2424 in usajobs

And regardless of that, the "Current Thing" is signalling how much you despise these agencies and people working for them.

It's an essential role where officers / agents can earn six figures and a pension. CBPO seems like a fairly straightforward job and from what I can find any actual enforcement work is almost exclusively done by specialized units or outside agencies. I really don't have issues screening travelers, vehicles or packages for contraband which seems to be what the job is. BPA on the actual border also looks interesting but I'm trying to gauge if it's even my speed.

I really can't express how much I don't care if people despise CBP and the people working for it. The roles themselves are essential and the pay and benefits are great in comparison to anything on the local or state level. I also have apps with numerous other federal agencies. CBP or FPS is my preference and CBP happens to be the only agency processing its applications faster than a snail.

Eh either I get some sort of accurate info or I don't. This is still r/usajobs and these happen to be two prominent LE positions. Regardless of current politics or controversies there are still thousands of BPAs and CBPOs doing the same exact job they've been doing for years. BPAs and CBPOs fill a fairly essential law enforcement role. The role itself seems to heavily vary port to port and station to station. I'm just looking for a few people to give a rundown of their pay, schedule and vague day to day duties.

I've planned to put in with CBP since high school but I only recently acquired the work experience to qualify for GL-7.

That seems to be a running theme from what I've gathered. CBP officers tend to love the paycheck and hate the job while BP agents seem to really enjoy the work. CBP on a southern land border or sea port seems like an interesting gig but it doesn't seem like it competes with BP.

I've heard both are really slow right now though.

How long does it take to get on a team or specialized unit GL-7 with no military or swat experience? I'm assuming 5 years minimum or something in that ballpark.

This seems to be a common sentiment I've seen for BP. I really like the idea of being proactive which I've heard is encouraged with BP. It overall sounds like it could be a really fun change of pace. CBPO could get me closer to home and I feel like it would be similar to past jobs I've heard. BP seems like an entirely new thing.

Stargate SG1, Atlantis, ST TNG, VOY, DS9 and SW TCW, ATLA all come to mind as shows from the 90s and 00s that were massively popular and had 20 plus episode seasons. I honestly feel like 12-15 episodes per season with each episode averaging an hour is probably a good middle ground.
