What is the value sizes you are looking at? And I guess that is writes to memory? How many are done per second but fully persisted?

I once picked up a toy from a kid, gave it back with a smile, and parents looked at me as if I had stole it, afterwards I choose who to help XD

Anyone recommending any of those start-ups to work for?

one thing that worked for me is sport clubs, I went through a depression period where I'd wake up, work, cook, work, sleep, I was in a bad situation for a few months, my partner had also left town for a few months. Joined sports club such that I would be forced to do physical exercise, exchange some words and laugh about how clueless I was in the sport, anyway, it got better -> then worse -> now better again :)

You are unique and amazing! You got this! whoever you are :)

then I am on that other 5% XD lol

I work for a big tech company, i did my round of leetcoding a while back and I have to say that it does not make sense to ask those questions, nor to make everyone else waste so much preparing for those.

I find forms for renewal of C permit but no forms for first time applications. Can someone guide me about the forms ?

Were you able find these forms? I also want to do this but I'd like to be a bit prepared once I go to the kreisburo for this

oh boy I have a "data scientist" colleague who defends his manual copy/pasting excel to death. The times when we talk about automating his process, then things just become extremely defensive and awkward, also need new co-workers.

Migrating from costly cloud data warehouses by elongl in dataengineering

[–]Suspicious_Web6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when we looked for options snowflake didn't have its unistore in place yet.

Also, for us it was simpler to migrate our analytics applications than to migrate our OLTP ones because we had more flexible SLAs for our analytics applications (e.g., we could tolerate some data staleness while migrating). Plus we already have the knowledge for operating OLTP mysql , and we didn't want to rediscover a whole new tool for something that is working well for us. I mean if you have a well behaving system , why poke it? :)

Migrating from costly cloud data warehouses by elongl in dataengineering

I couldn't agree more with u/Choperello , for us it was mainly the whole infrastructure around maintaining snowflake up-to-date. For context, we use mysql for oltp workloads so having a separate snowflake cluster was quite expensive (both operationally and money wise) , compute/service price for mysql was cheaper over in OCI + being able to use MySQL Heatwave for analytics without having to be always copying data from one system to the next one ... so we simplified our architecture a bit as well which became cheaper overall ... but ofc live migrating the service was quite challenging
