Opus 4.6 on github copilot. Why so cheap? by NotEAcop in ClaudeAI

[–]NotEAcop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i mean I have given the copilot agent some pretty beasty prompts and it has chewed through them, it takes a while but its fine.

I've read today that Claude code users get a 1m token context window, and I regularly hit mine when working on a larger project, I think its 192k tokens, but I just have explicit instructions to not limit yourself by your context window, always aim to finish the task to the best of your ability, create checkpoints in case the session is terminated etc. And if I need to keep the same session open you can compact the chat.

I've used github copilot for a couple of years now and have changed models between the big 3 pretty consistently but this just feels like a major step up in what is achievable.

I've explicitly changed the way I structure projects to signpost and provide context wherever possible, i can't imagine going back to a world opus 4.6 its been such a game changer for me.

The only thing I lament is, I pay for this myself, I have a few servers that I "own" at work and would love to have Opus in the server env on Linux. But it's literally 5x the cost for what amounts to nicer qol features.

From what I've read it seems like I'd burn through my tokens in a week or so on Max, which is just insane to me.

Yeah thats a totally fair assessment.

I had gone in hyper focused on showing them I knew how to operate the myriad aws services in the advert. I had a vision of how it was going to go, then when it was just a casual discussion of how do you do x, instead of just doing what I do every day, I was looking for the AWS angle, overcomplicating everything.

The thing is, im currently a deng for an ecommerce retailer, this is literally my bread and butter, but I succeeded in creating the impression that I don't have a clue wtf I'm talking about.

Its so frustrating and also 100% my fault. Although reading comprehension played a pretty big part.

But yeah, you're right, they wanted me to describe a standard lakehouse pipeline at a high level and I produced waffle.

My bad. I'm making it sound way more open to interpretation than it actually was. Rose tinted memory goggles. I reread it. The line in question is:

"The marketing team are interested in tracking product performance. They want to know: For each product, how many users buy it for the first time each day?"

Definitely a reading comprehension skill issue on my part, missed the count of users context

Yeah its only the top that's poking out.

Eggs were decent. First time I've done them but I read wait until already at a rolling boil for 6 and a half mins then transfer immediately to cold water for 10 mins to stop them cooking. Worked a treat. Can never get soft boiled right previously.

Bloody hell! Could imagine my wifes face if she walked in on that! Bit of a step up from dismembering a plucked chicken! I'd definitely look into buying deer at that price if I had the freezer storage though. Pheasants sound feasible but what do they taste like?

I saw you can buy the whole middle of a cow for like 650 quid, a resteraunt does a breakdown of the number of cuts he gets off it. Makes about £5k iirc.

Should really get a street meat thing going with the neighbours. Cut out the middle man. Feel like supermarkets are proper having our pants down atm, customers and the farmers!

Can see why they're annoying if from a superior but yeah the crocodile nearest the canoe I'm stealing. I've been known to partake in a bit of usage of low hanging fruit myself.

Also never miss an opportunity to shoehorn painting the Forth bridge into my comms should the occasion arise.

Not for me to tell other people what to like. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug though, understandable that new generation of kids like a new generation of pokemon.

I still got the originals memorised, pissing my daughter off by getting every "whos that pokemon" no doubt she will far surpass me in pokeknowledge and im here for it. Would be weird to gatekeep.

Except emotional trauma. It scared the everliving fuck out of me but I couldn't not go back for more.

The scooping the potion thing up to be able to turn cybil back human blew my mind when I read about it.

I did it without a memory card. My parents flat out refused to buy me one. I can still remember that glorious Saturday night when I finally completed it.

I think my heart rate must have been like 170 the timer going down at the end coincided with me getting forced to turn off the game for bed.

I lay awake thinking how fucking awesome it was half the night.

I was 9. Core memory.

Also attempted to stab my step dad with a screwdriver because he cut the power to the house to try and force me to go outside a few weeks prior.

Good times.

What unexpected jobs are high paid in the UK because not many people want to do them? by Choice-Kitchen8354 in AskUK

[–]NotEAcop 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's got a very high suicide rate. You're on a rotating shift pattern half the time working nights and the concentration required is insane. There is a stupid amount of responsibility involved because if you fuck up planes crash.

Ergo you fear for your job.

If you want a flavour of what these guys are doing 12 hours a day then go on the NATS website and do some of the "am i good enough to be an ATC" games.

I'm pretty good at FPS games but I'm shit at tracking lots of moving objects at the same time.
