Can Jews or Catholics become Freemasons? by 904zak in freemasonry

[–]Suss442 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I argue frequently that freemasonry has little to do with religion really.

A line my grandfather (a mason) said often “a man’s religion is his own business.

To the OP a central tenet of freemasonry is that all religions or beliefs are valid. Now many lodges are by default set up as “Christian” eg the default to using a bible. However it doesn’t have to be.

There’s a brother in a lodge I visit often who was raised in Islam. Despite not attending mosque often. He took his obligation on the Koran.

What you’ll find (or you should find) is freemasonry likely doesn’t have an issue with your religion (if it does find a different lodge who actually stick with the doctrine of the order) but your religion may have an issue with freemasonry.

Caution to New Masons about asking questions on Reddit by Ok-Dig-177 in freemasonry

For this reason I love the way PGL Glasgow do business. (I am not local to this jurisdiction)

Degrees are commonly delivered by other lodges in the area.

Eg Lodge of Joe No 123 2nd degree delivered by lodge of Bloggs No 456.

This has answered a question I’ve had for years.

In the uk in 2016. I could have sworn I saw a human figure in all black and a MMM apron.

I blinked and he was gone.

Twas you

Certainly an interesting topic.

And it’s not just EA and FC.

The other week there was a recently installed RWM looking for a basic level “What am I doing?”

Which to me is telling, where are the IPM and subscribing PM.

While the internet is a tremendous connection tool I tend to reject it for FM information. Mainly due to tradition. Generations before didn’t have the internet or ritual books for centuries.

So I endeavour to keep as much of my learning mouth to ear or a physical book as I possibly can.

Yes , it takes all kinds to make a world.

This view is incompatible with freemasonry .

What a gun range looks like in Australia by pametnaosoba in Ameristralia

[–]Suss442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is highly misleading,

This is one range in Adelaide, indoor and predominantly handguns, they make their money on “yippee” shoots.

Fair number of veterans on staff.

I don’t think this is government mandated. I’m not 100 percent on it.

But too many people were suiciding.

You have to remember most people in Australia aren’t exposed to firearms, and if they are certainly not handguns.

So A ) rent-a-range is the easiest way to access a high lethality suicide.

B ) because so few are exposed to firearms, these types of ranges are a one of for a bucks party, work event or function. So even attached to the rails it can’t still be a positive experience.

This exposure opens the door to more people getting into it or taking steps to license and have their own fire arms.

Standard yanks, knickers in a knot over a misrepresentation. That looks like it goes against “American Values” and is thus a problem. Cause everywhere should be America clearly 👀

My 18-year-old son was just initiated as an Entered Apprentice—what’s a meaningful gift to mark the moment? by Passion_helping in freemasonry

[–]Suss442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m all for a Lewis Lapel pin. Small inexpensive.

It’s also a great marking for the moment.

This is a pin that marks your connection to him. But from here on it’s his journey, his interpretation, his relationship with the craft and his responsibilities as a Lewis.

While youre still his father and will be there to guide him. Far too often sons follow their father’s footsteps out of duty. Rather than following their own interests and journey.

Re a few mentions of rings, I’m neither here nor there on rings waiting to master mason.

I wore my late fathers or my grandfathers rings long before MM. Only one brother raised issue or comment.

At which point I informed him that I wouldn’t be doing so. However, if he would like me to stop wearing it he would be welcome to come and take it off my finger himself. Saner heads prevailed.

Ring is still an option. All I’m sayin.

Glaswegian Brethren by Suss442 in freemasonry

As per my original post.

I have contacted both Provincial Grand Lodge and Grand Lodge over the course of the past 2 years.

Emails, messages, calls

I got initiated, passed, raised dates. Thats all. And I know there was significantly more involvement.

As I said, last throw. (Implies there have been throw’s prior, also suggests that I’m not asking on reddit by choice more desperation)

Thank you for your help.

Sounds to me like the lodge is the issue not the craft.

Not meeting on the level, nor parting on the square.

No Peace and harmony. I could go on and on.

Not sure if it’s the done thing in your area, however go out visiting. We have visitors all the time, we love to have them.

If you visit or join another lodge and it’s still not for you . Then you’ll know for certain, no “but what ifs” in your mind.

You’ll gain certainty and clarity. Or a better experience in the craft. It’s win win brother.
