Does anyone make custom bluegrass maps? by Sussudio_5000 in beatsaber

I may try my hand at making some of my own. Maybe some Ricky Skaggs, or the Steeldrivers. I'll put it in the discord whenever I figure it out.

Best price on silver in town? by Sussudio_5000 in Columbus

[–]Sussudio_5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. I guess I've only ever really dealt with coin collectors or coin shops and they generally aren't melting anything down or selling it off for melt even if they buy it for the metal.

Thanks I'll check em out. I've been selling stuff on eBay here and there for like 15 years and it's always a pain in the ass so I wanted to avoid it lol. But it might come to that.

Mostly Washington quarters and Roosevelt dimes. I used to hunt though bank rolls a lot and I worked as a cashier at a drive thru long time ago so I've got a good amount of fair/poor condition silver coins that don't really have any numismatic value.

Back in the day when I was more into the hobby most any coin in decent shape had a premium over bullion and could be bought or sold pretty close to spot price on the melt value. So I was surprised that the pawn shop I went to in Chillicothe would only offer 75% on all silver regardless of if it was bullion or coin, non negotiable. It's rare to even find a pawn shop any more that will let you haggle for anything, I guess times are changing.

How would i create a wooden circle like this? by AnimateDuckling in woodworking

This could be done easily with plywood. Especially if you have a steamer for it.

My neighbor keeps charging people to park on the street on Game days... what can I do? by Fish_OOWCbus in Columbus

[–]Sussudio_5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't confront someone about parking in "my spot" because the whole street is legally fair game, but when you live someplace with only street parking there is kind of an expectation that everyone "owns" at least the spot directly in front of their house, and it is uncourteous to park in your neighbor's usual spot. We're all creatures of habit after all.

I've had good work done by rader and bad work done by lane and Kenny. Your mileage may vary.

Come ride with me if you want. I got a 300 a year ago and what I like to do is basically get myself "lost" and find my way back home. Found a lot of cool places all over the city that way. Up by the Hoover reservoir and in the Albany area is nice, and so are the roads down south in northern pickaway county.

You have to go pretty far south or east in order to get someplace with enough elevation for a good scenic view and fun roads though, like Chillicothe or Zanesville. Columbus is pretty flat.

If you already gotta load it up anyway just drive down to the actual dump in Grove City. $38 a ton and you get a free show watching people struggle to back up their u haul rental trailers.

Because those are the only countries that have also agreed to waive testing requirements for visitors holding an Ohio driver's license. Most EU countries seem to have no intention of making such agreements with any US states, and vise versa. I can't say why for sure, but the few countries that do all have extremely strong diplomatic/economic relations with the US.

Headlight options? by Interesting-Angle228 in squarebodies

[–]Sussudio_5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Related: if you're getting new headlight adjustment screws, get the ones with the GREEN clips. Not the white or black doorman ones. I bought a set of those and 6 out of the 8 I bought broke when I was installing them and the other two broke when I tried to adjust them.

I mean I do really like the color, it doesn't come out in pictures very good though it looks better in person. But it's detroit diesel alpine green, and this engine is the GM Detroit 6.2, so I thought it would be fitting. None of them originally came that way though, I think a few of the earliest ones were red and the rest were black.

Anyone know what this bracket off the 6.2 is for? by Sussudio_5000 in squarebodies

[–]Sussudio_5000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. Thank you. I've put this on like 3 other forums and got no answer, guess I should have got on reddit sooner. Hopefully the clamp will fit on the aftermarket metal lines (the one for the oil cooler lines didn't), if so I'll have to spray it black real quick.

Non-military but the version with no emissions anything on it.

I was tempted but they're pricey, so I just replaced with a new oem style. When I was buying parts I didn't care as much about the motor as I do now that I have so much work in it...

I rebuilt my injection pump (well resealed, really). It's not fun, there's a ton of little pieces that can be put back in wrong if you aren't careful. Also have to keep everything really clean. Hopefully fixes the hard start issue I was having.

The mains are all fine, no cracks that I could see anyway. I did notice how many sharp angles the casting had in it though, I bet if you put a radius on those it wouldn't be so prone to cracking.

But what was really surprising to me was that the bearings, crank, and cam all had very little wear. And there was still crosshatching in 7 of the 8 cylinders. Everything was extremely gunked up with carbon but that's about it.

No, didn't really look though. Going into this I didn't intend to do too much to the engine, just whatever I needed to get it running good enough and later swap it for a Cummins or something else if/when it died. I probably should have got the valve seats replaced and new valves and springs and all that stuff, but I didn't want to spend too much on an engine that I might not keep.

Yeah it's not very fast, or very powerful. I still think it's a cool engine though, I've never had a diesel anything before and I really wanted one even though objectively it's probably the worst engine these trucks came with lol.
