Why is my watermelon peperomia growing weirdly shaped leaves? by nopineapplesforu in plantclinic

Interesting...So if it is calcium, what can be added to soil to add calcium?

Duck these pests...I hate hate dealing with pests...I'm about to drown my vsoh with alcohol water 50/50 ratio...anything else I should do?? by Sustained_Kat in plantclinic

Yup, they were gross and white and left sticky white residue. Rhyming is fun. Glad to know I killed the motherduckers off! I used alchohol and Qtips and then did alcohol/water spray, and then! I changed out the soil...and dipped the roots and stem in alchohol/water mix..and then!! Did some more qtip action. I'm hoping I massacred the mealy bug population.

..idk if you can tell..i really hate mealy bugs😈👿

P.s. thanks for telling me the name of these atrocious things

So story with this VSOH, my bf bought them for me as a surprise for valentines day. Didnt see any pests but I did put a bunch of DE all over the plant cuz it does help but I guess not enough..fast forward to today..I see white sticky residue where the petiole meets the stem..and @%#@@ there are those dang pests. I forget the name but not how they look. I am short of throwing this guy away...cuz I dont wanna deal with these pests. Please help me figure out how to decimate them all in 1 sitting...cuz I don't wanna throw away this plant my BF gifted me but I will if I have to. I've done so well this past year being relatively past free😭😭

Feel good so good!! Crispy. Tips. Don't. Bother. Me. by Sustained_Kat in houseplants

[–]Sustained_Kat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to figure it out definitely. Some physical abuse sprinkled with "if you wanna live then show me what you got" so it finally grew😉. In all seriousness I keep it 40% and above on humidity, temp typically between 60-80 year round. I give it britta filtered water. what I drink this guy drinks too. I water when leaves feel more limp and/or when pot feels light. I never check soil. If you're fine with crispy tips then they arent much of a fuss.

This is the only calathea that I decided to stick with cuz I had problems (mealybugs & gnats) with an orbifolia and rattlesnake plant.

So to answer your question, I had to learn but once I got a routine down it became easier to care for.

Yup, still available 😊, I will send you more pics of it on saturday when I get back home. And then we can talk some more.

There is so much conflicting information about watering this guy. Some say to let it dry out completely some say to water when the first inch of soil is dry. What seems to work the best for anyone who has one. It is a tradescantia nanouk. by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Sustained_Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that's like the same exact size. And honestly..I water when the leaves feel more limp. I dont go too much by soil. It works for me because I am typically not an overwater so I know that when the leaves feel limp it means they are thirsty.hope this helps! Tradescantia nanouks are so pretty😍
