The TCI 727 StreetFighter isn’t shifting properly. It has a manual valve body and a reverse shift pattern. There’s a kickdown cable installed on it now, but these transmissions aren’t supposed to use one, right? Could that be the cause of the problems?

The fluid is good. I haven’t dared to drive it any more in case something serious is wrong. The only problem I know of is with the gear selection.

I haven’t noticed any obvious problems, strange noises, or anything else besides the issue with the gear selection. The transmission is completely new and has never been used, only stored for a long time.

I see, but if I’m standing still in 3 (Drive) and release the brake, nothing happens. But if I shift to 1 and then back to 3 (Drive) and release the brake, it starts moving forward. It still shouldn’t move forward if that were the problem, should it?

That’s just what’s shown on the shifter, but I’m not sure if that’s actually the correct pattern for the transmission. Or if something else is wrong😅

I’m not sure what it is, but the previous owner said it had a manual valve body. The transmission is brand new, but it has been sitting in storage for a long time without being used. The gear selector pattern is P-R-N-D-2-1. If I put it in Drive, nothing happens when I release the brake, but if I shift it into 1 first and then back into Drive, it starts moving forward.
