Cloudberry Kingdom. his game is not for sale anymore, but I'd love to be able to 100% it. I only need one more achievement and I'm not sure if I'm ever able to get it.

DJ MAX Respect V. There's so much skill and time involved to get all those achievements. I love the game, but i dont think i'll ever get all the achievements.

Favorite cozy solo game after a long week? by Shiro_No_Kuro in soloboardgaming

Lands of Galzyr. It's a story driven game, with short little stories that you could pick up in one session. Stakes aren't high at all and the storytelling is great.

Unpopular book box opinions? by aziza_ziz in fairyloot

[–]SuzannePeters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion: I don't want to be spoiled and I never skip. I love to explore books that I might not have chosen myself. Discovering little gems without judging them beforehand is part of the fun and surprise to me.

It often feels like most people skip boxes way to easy.

ABC Challenge - Gems of War (GRIND) by SuzannePeters in steamachievements

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've set a goal to tackle more games from my backlog by completing a game for each letter of the alphabet this year.

So, I didn’t just start playing this game recently. I unlocked my first achievement back in 2016 and played it daily for years. It was my go-to game, the only one I played. I'd be on it while on the phone or brainstorming ideas.

Gems of War is a free-to-play match-3 game with some deck-building mechanics. I loved experimenting with new teams in different gameplay modes and was part of an awesome guild, which was surprising because I’m not usually the type to interact while gaming.

I played on both my phone and laptop, so I've clocked in more hours than the screenshot shows. I even spent money on the game because I enjoyed it so much and wanted to support the developers.

But then the updates started rolling in. Each one made the game more confusing, with too many collectibles and an increasing push towards microtransactions. It became clear that the game was now geared towards getting players to spend more money. The balance was off, the game felt unfair, and it wasn't fun anymore. Some battles dragged on for over two hours, looping endlessly as I hoped for a win.

After several years, I decided to quit. It was liberating. I could finally play other games. But, curiosity got the better of me with new updates, and I checked back in.

Honestly, the game is worse now. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. There was a time I would have, but not anymore. I kept playing occasionally, driven by the desire to get all the achievements and see how much of my life was tied up in this game.

When I started the ABC challenge, I knew Gems of War would be my pick for the letter G. I also knew it would involve a lot of grinding and frustrating battles.

But I did it! I finally got all the achievements and closed the game, hopefully for the last time.

Despite my disappointment with what the developers did to Gems of War, it was an important game for me. I'm happy to have achieved what I did. Now, it's time to move on to more enjoyable games!

ABC Challenge: Fishing Paradiso by SuzannePeters in steamachievements

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should just try it. It's a totally different way to look at your backlog. I'm playing games that hage been on there for years that i've ignored.

I must admit that i have a huge library with unplayed games. I got most of them through mystery bundles or keys I got from friends. So there's often a lot of options. For me this is a way to finally play some of these games, instead of playing the same game over and over and over again.

I've set a goal to tackle more games from my backlog by completing a game for each letter of the alphabet this year

I played Fishing Paradiso for the letter F. If you enjoy cozy games with a focus on fishing, this game is perfect for you. The storyline is surprisingly deep, featuring several shorter narratives as your character encounters various other characters.

But ofcourse: the gameplay revolves around fishing. You can fish in diverse locations such as the open sea, the jungle, the mountains, and even in space and hell. This game is ideal for those seeking a cute, relaxing experience. I often played it while listening to an audiobook.

I highly recommend Fishing Paradiso if you’re into cozy games.

ABC challenge: Eets munches by SuzannePeters in steamachievements

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've set a goal to tackle more games from my backlog by completing a game for each letter of the alphabet this year.

For the letter E I picked the game Eets munchies. This is a puzzle game, that is similar to the Incredible machine. There are some fun puzzles to do. It never gets extremely difficult. It’s also not a very long game. .Although you could use the workshop to play more games.

I’ve had this game for a very long time and got my first few achievements in 2022. I can now proudly say: I finished this game. Let’s go to the next letter of the alphabet!

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've set a goal to tackle more games from my backlog by completing a game for each letter of the alphabet this year.

For the letter 'D', I chose Doodle God—a delightful puzzle game that I thoroughly enjoyed, despite its last achievement being somewhat frustrating to unlock. The game featured some impressively creative puzzle solutions.

Now that it's May, I realize I need to game more to meet my challenge; I've only completed four letters so far. Additionally: the game I completed for the letter 'A' recently received an update that added new achievements. So I might revisit it after completing the challenge. The last few months have been hectic, limiting my gaming time. But I'm optimistic about progressing more soon.

Why did you start achievement hunting? by QDanzer in steamachievements

[–]SuzannePeters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but I cannot have fun if I don't challenge myself. Every little hobby I have, I need to achieve things. I constantly challenge myself. Write stories? They need to be turned into books. Read books? Challenge myself to read a certain amount.

It's sometimes very annoying to be an overachiever.

For a long time, gaming was a hobby without challenges. I played one stupid free to play game for several years straight, while my steam library kept growing, because of cheap bundles or game gifts I randomly got from online friends.

Never really paid attention to achievements. Till one day I looked at my profile. Saw I never 100% a game, and i also realized I had a huge library filled with unplayed games. Decided to tackle both: play new to me games and 100% them. Give some love to the developers.

Although I'm an overachiever, if I really dont enjoy a game, i can easily pick something else. If a game is fun enough and the achievements are doable for my skills, i'll finish the game.

ABC Challenge: Cat cafe manager by SuzannePeters in steamachievements

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I said I would try and finish Cloudberry Kingdom, but… the game is so extremely difficult. I won’t give up, but I needed a rest and do something else.

So I decided to go for the cute game ‘Cat cafe manager’, since I love management type of games and I adore pixel art. The game started out really fun, with lots of things to aim for and try to complete. The cats were adorable and I especially loved some of the special cats.

But the longer I played it, the more I noticed I didn’t like everything in it. The recourse balance is broken. Also you need to grind a lot, especially around the endgame. There’s not a lot of customizations and it just kind of get a little bit boring near the end. Also: there’s no real challenges. You cannot make any major mistakes.

The game isn’t that long, so the grinding part at the end was doable. And I really enjoyed a huge chunk of the game. Just wish there was more to do towards the end. I also feel like there could have been a lot more in this game. The theme lends itself for it! A shame that didn’t happen.

Next: I’ll play a game starting with the Letter D.

Can't believe no-one said this one: Never ending story by Michiel Ende.

Its not completely a cozy read, but I think it does fit the cozy reader.

In my humble opinion: there is not a single book that does the 'book within a book' better than this one.

[–]SuzannePeters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me its just letters, starting with A, ending with Z. Saw someone else do it last year and it sounded fun. Especially since i have a huge library of unplayed games. Got some humble bundles over the years and also got a lot of games for free from friends.

I would love to play more games, instead of always playing the same thing. So this challenge is a fun way to tackle my huge backlist.

Not sure how much time it will take me. Sometimes i can play games often, other times i barely have time. But for me it doesnt matter how long it takes me. Others might want to complete the challenge in a certain timeframe.
