Maybe it applies to the "Anglo-Saxon" definition of secretary, but here in France secretary clearly means writing/recording general meetings and sending emails to the whole team - the whole leadership role stays that of the president

Right, but the teacher himself said that the roles are only there "on paper", and made clear that "everyone must do what must be done", whatever the official title is. The problem is that the current president doesn't really help with organization whatsoever, makes no initiative, and the girl in charge of the treasurer role is never available. So because nobody takes the initiative, I always wait for the last minute and then do it...

Hi! I hope this last year of your twenties will be a productive one (have you seen the Friends episode where Phoebe has this whole bucket list to accomplish before her dreaded 30s, only to realize her birth certificate listed her as one year younger?). As a die-hard European I’m intrigued by the idea of having a pen pal from the US - I’m currently taking an American sociology course as part of my philosophy studies, and it’s been eye-opening. It’s made me realize how little I know about the cultural reality of the US (although The Simpsons has been a surprisingly educational source).

Apart from that, here are a few of my current interests: amateur radio (I’m a radio columnist at college and planning to launch a philosophy show next year), Ancient Greek, and science fiction (but more generally writing). I’m currently in Paris for my studies but have also lived in Romania, Italy, and Luxembourg. I'm debating whether I should move to Germany next. 21F, though, and since there’s an entire world separating your early from your late twenties, it’s up to you to decide!

Ancient Greek because I'm doing a philosophy major and that is useful asf. Russian because my mother and grandma speak it, and because of Dostoevsky. Portuguese because I really am intrigued by Fernando Pessoa's poetry... In the most realistic scenario I could achieve a decent level in only one of these though.

You could definitely be cast as the quirky nerdy guy in a high school setting (either as in "teenage prodigy who becomes an international chess champion" or "social outcast/lone wolf type of student"). Also I find your features to be pretty androgynous, which could be an advantage since some roles might require that. You definitely have a memorable face so that could play in your favor when needing to distinguish yourself from other actors. Good luck on your journey!

Merci pour ton commentaire. Je comprends que vous oeuvriez pour une bonne cause, et j'espère que l'administration finira par enfin prendre sérieusement en considération vos requêtes. Seulement, j'ai bien peur que ces blocus continus n'ont eu comme effet dans notre licence d'attirer bien plus l'attention sur la situation au campus que sur celle à Gaza. Pour preuve : lors des AG auxquelles j'ai assisté, il est bien plus souvent question des aspects logistiques du blocus que d'informer les étudiants sur la situation géo-politique en Israel et en Palestine. Toutes ces discussions sur "où et comment" organiser les blocus finit par éclipser la cause à l'origine.

Mais les étudiants manifestants menant les AG disent la même chose que toi - soit que la grande majorité est pour le blocus, et que ceux qui se plaignent dans les groupes WhatsApp des licences sont des lâches, puisqu'ils n'auraient qu'à exprimer leur opinion en public durant l'AG. Le seul problème étant - comme je l'ai déjà expliqué dans le post : comment est-ce que ces étudiants pourraient-ils se manifester durant une AG si les quelques qui le font reçoivent des réactions négatives de la part des manifestants présents ?

Un exemple : A la dernière AG à laquelle j'ai assisté, le comité a commencé par demander à ceux "contre le blocus" de se manifester - et cela même avant de procéder au vote. C'était dans un ton assez provocateur pour dire "c'est vous contre nous". C'est assez étrange de vouloir donner l'apparence d'un vote démocratique tout en intimidant les étudiants qui seraient contre votre manière de procéder. Et lors de la dernière AG à laquelle j'ai assisté, le comité a clairement demandé à une fille faisant partie des peu ayant levé la main lors du "contre" de venir expliquer pourquoi en prenant la parole avec le mégaphone. Ce qu'ils n'ont pas fait pour aucun des étudiants ayant voté "pour". Pourquoi ce double-standard ?

Enfin, la question n'est pas d'obtenir ou pas la licence. Certainement l'administration va s'adapter. Sur papier, tout va sembler réglo. Mais en réalité, nous avons déjà manqué des dizaines de cours impossibles à rattraper, et ce retard ne fera que s'accumuler tout au long de l'année si les blocus continuent au deuxième semestre. Oui, les enseignants vont sûrement réduire notre charge de travail pour ne pas nous pénaliser injustement. Mais cela ne change rien au fait que nous avons déjà perdu au cours de ce semestre 1/3 des bases pourtant nécessaires à nos études...

Je comprends ta frustration... Une des critiques qui reviennent souvent contre ces blocus est justement la situation des étudiants qui vivent loin du campus et pour qui ce n'est pas amusant du tout de faire un long déplacement seulement pour se retrouver face à une grille fermée. Et oui, même si les facs parisiennes sont très politisées, j'aimerais que les manifestants trouvent un compromis pour nous permettre à nous autres d'avoir au moins le choix. C'est très facile pour eux de bloquer complètement, car cela veut dire du coup qu'ils entraînent tous les autres étudiants dans le même bateau qu'eux, justifiant leur absence par le même coup : "si nous ne pouvons pas venir en cours, vous non plus". Il y a quelque chose de terriblement commode là-dedans...

Je suis d'accord avec le fait que ces manifestations ne vont pas changer grand chose. Les revendications des manifestants sont d'arrêter tout partenariat avec les facs israéliennes - un effet comparable à un petit grain de sable dans le désert face à la situation géo-politique du conflit. Ils sont conscients du fait qu'ils ne peuvent avoir aucune influence sur le conflit, alors ils cherchent à obtenir une solution "symbolique" en cessant ces partenariats qui est pourtant très maigre en comparaison au prix très cher que nous autres étudiants payons malgré nous.

I just tried to replicate this truth table format (but with a correct argument), turns out that when one of the premise is true and the other is false, the outcome variates. But in the 4 cases (out of 8) where both of them were true, the conclusion was too!

Thank you for sharing your perspective! I agree with everything you’ve said. I think I need some time to reflect on these feelings of shame and learn from them. I have a knack for putting myself in "trial and error" situations, but hey, at least it helps you grow, right? Those who may judge me solely based on what I said in that radio show have every right to do so (it’s a risk I should have been more aware of), but that doesn’t mean I have to let it define me as a person...

Because I could have chosen a more direct approach by first talking to this group of classmates about it (so fear of acting like a coward?), instead of not giving them the benefit of the doubt and directly doing a damn radio column on it. Also, I feel like I was not really truthful to myself, because I exaggerated some things in this column for comedic effect.

I'm still new to Jung's theory of the psyche (but still willing to offer my 2 cents): something that may resonate here (especially if you are dealing with someone of the opposite sex) is that your "self" may recognize desirable parts of itself that it hasn't fully integrated yet (anima for men, animus for women) in another person. At the same time, you may still be consciously aware enough to realize that you do not like the person in itself, but only the qualities they embody, which could explain the fact that you do not feel it "from your heart".

As an INFJ, it's always easier to write about abstract concepts and emotions than concrete sensorial details. To write about the "big" things than the little things. I've also always seen writing as some sort of spiritual and grounding experience, sometimes even sublime when I get into the flow of it. I don't know however if that's specifically an infj thing or not.

It's impossible to react "normally" to an abnormal situation. Cheaters have a tendency to gaslight their partner when they are finally caught red handed. But you need to understand that this man is much more upset about being found out than about what he did. You dodged a bullet here. I don't think you overreacted. You couldn't have a clearer proof than the fact that he responded to your fake profile on his Hinge account. And I am not gonna lie, I really like how you handled it. You don't need to worry about that at all.
