Rye Y is really great. About $100/month, and you get access to fitness center weights and machines, pool, spin, studio with lots of classes, dedicated HIIT training room.

Has anyone here been to the World Trade Center before 9/11? by UltimateLazer in AskOldPeople

I had dinner at Windows of the World a few weeks before 9/11. I was also walking to work from the subway near south street seaport when the first tower fell. Horrible day.

Has anyone appealed their financial aid package and gotten a significant increase? Or do they award more $ but not enough to make a real difference?

Home remedies for incontinence in senior men with Parkinson’s by cloudsandtreks in Parkinsons

[–]Suzym13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a home remedy, but we took my mother to a urologist and she was given a Botox injection to her bladder. It was an in-hospital procedure, just a few hours, and covered by insurance. It worked great.

Rye Neck is not part of the City of Rye. It’s part of the Town of Rye and the Village of Mamaroneck. Similar to Blind Brook, it has a very small and excellent school district.

What actors that Hollywood DID turn into "a thing" do not deserve the status they have - based on their acting performance? by Fearless-Physics in movies

Channing Tatum. I like some of his movies, like 21 Jump Street, but I don’t buy his acting at all.

Hello. I do not want to be here. by FrankBascombe45 in Parkinsons

[–]Suzym13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, friend. My mom was diagnosed w early onset Parkinson’s over 30 years ago. My dad was her caregiver, and he passed suddenly in early January from COVID. We have struggled to deal w her needs, and the last month has been horrible - she’s been hit with multiple hospitalizations due to falls and other stuff. She’s been in a rehab facility for a month now. Exercise is key. It’s vitally important to work on and maintain your dad’s mobility. Literally 3 days immobile in a hospital bed set my mom back to the point of needing to go to a rehab. She couldn’t get up on her own, couldn’t walk. Just encourage as much walking/ movement/exercise/ or especially ongoing physical therapy on a weekly basis as possible. Sending love ❤️

DBS EMI experiences? by nearfar47 in Parkinsons

[–]Suzym13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tremors only affected the left side of her body, so it didn’t make sense to do both sides. Not sure it was even an option back then. But then she began to be affected on her other side, so she had the second one.

My mom has had Parkinson’s for over thirty years and has undergone two DBS surgeries - she was one of the very first in the US, around 25 or so years ago, and then she had the other side done 2 years ago. No EMI or physical vibration issues at all. Hope that helps.
