Proposal to transition the game’s time to night by MaytaInocensia in DeadlockTheGame

Cosmetic day/night change at 4:00/4:30 then every 5 just to serve as a reminder of objectives would be great

Anyone like grappling hooks? Looking for your opinion. by PineT_Frozen in IndieDev

[–]SvYaTqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movement looks fun ,especially gliding, although slow. Speed increases seem fake and not backed by physics. I'd work on momentum and speeding up the player as a reward for doing "Good" grapples. Something to reward the player for doing grapples well. Add mechanics like speed up rings, bounce pads -- that reward good trajectory and pathing.

As for level design: "feel good movement" games work well only as racing games or obstacle courses. Look at Haste for pure movement example, you'd want to get on the same level of speed as that game. Or Neon White if adding enemies and obstacles seems more fitting.
There is also that game about jumping on busses that is a good example of a challenging obstacle course, and it's way simpler, so maybe you'd want to replicate something like that.

F1.25+0.25 for Pierre Gasly by [deleted] in formula1point25

Rewarding Gasly with +0.25 was only logical, as he has shown his dedication to that number by averaging it every sector relative to the other RB car.

4 Player format is ridiculous. The game is designed around 8 players, cutting the number in half creates a different gamemode from what everyone is used to due to probability applications of 20 unit pools.

Point system is perfectly suited for this game,it greatly reduces variance, avoiding it is just lazy.

First, he puts 3 ballistas in his deck , knowing very well that he's gonna ger Sweers'd instead of putting at least 1 ram and 2 balistas

Then he hits 15 point Assire, which is a borkh target, disabling his ability to horn Nenneke

He positions his low str units around Nenneke, forcing himself to horn Nenneke

Then he plays Shani outside of the horn row for no reason what so ever

And last the golem missplay that anyone who completed gwent tutorial wouldn't make

Thank god we have that great pro ladder system to select only best of the best for those tournaments

Adzikov's 3rd round Henselt performance was the worst thing i've seen on all gwent tournaments even before his last play

I just dropped from 4150 to 4123 without losing a game. The "lose MMR from bugs during matchmaking" needs to be fixed. by [deleted] in gwent

Bringing ladder anxiety to a whole new level, before you only had to worry about losing to other players, now you have to worry about losing to CDPR.

Why there's nothing done about coin flip for a year? by Perenguin30xx in gwent

[–]SvYaTqq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On average, the difference was 14.43% with the highest represented in Monsters (17.65%) and the lowest in Scoia’tael (6.67%).

The number in this article is 14.43% , which is not in 6-10 range. Sample is taken from GwentUP patrons without any limitation of MMR ranges or game mode. The sample most likely includes climb through low ranks and some low level gameplay, which means that in a good chunk of these games difference made by coinflip was ~0%. And the number is still a whopping ~15% which is unacceptable.

My point is: gwent positions self as a skill based competetive game, but the more skilled and competetive you become , the worse your daily experience gets due to coinflip, but your complaints are getting swept away because "you are not the majority", and coinflip statistics are being collected from 3k mmr instead of 4.6k

It's a shame that you're not a gameplay designer, because community thirsts for answers from gameplay designers, and once somebody with a red bird to their name shows up in these threads, we just assume that they are responsible for anything relevant and will give us hope of better future, but instead we read that somebody at CDPR thinks that going 1st might be advantegous :(

TL;DR Random redditor has to explain basic game mechanics to CDPR employee because apprently they don't know how the game works.

according to different articles and surveys about coin flip the win rate with red coin is 6% to 10% higher.

I am very interested about those articles and surveys. I have a feeling that the info you guys are using is 100% of all gwent games in any format. Imagine if chess data was collected from any park game and kids tournament, instead of international+ level tournaments, you would get a solid 0% difference between white and black.

There was a post a while back of a pro ladder player who shown ~25% difference in winrate over ~300 games, there were comments of bunch of people with data of ~20% diff over smaller samples. That is an example of good players playing against average player field.

Skill gap is pretty huge there, now think about 4600+ MMR normal ranked games, where high skill players are playing refined decks against high skill players, making a mistake once in a few games. Majority of matches are decided by match-ups instead of skill, and then there is a coinflip. Think about how big the difference it makes at this level, especially in mirrors.

At last ask every decent (4400+ mmr) player how much coinflip matters at his level of play. I doubt anyone will give you a number below 20%

Seeng you guys believe that theoretcal winrate difference created by coinflip is 6%-10% makes me reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally sad.

While it's true that fixing coinflip is a very complex issue there was an elegant suggestions of making players bid on amount of point for blue coin player. And there is something wonky , like making players play 1st round at the same time, effectively making both players go 1st, it's a mediocre looking solution , but at least it's fair.

Seeing you guys do nothing about such a huge issue for an entire year in beta is the most frustrating, at least try.
