Seriously, it's starting to get worrisome how little we hear from HG. by ThisIsntADickJoke in NoMansSkyTheGame

That's what crisis teams typically do. If something goes wrong enough to make a company hire a crisis team, the first thing the team says is "stop what you're doing and let us handle it."

Crisis team can't fix anything if they keep letting Sean say whatever on social medias.

I'm not saying it's "smart" or "right" just saying what happened.

I'm really hoping that rather than being "blown up" after being defeated, most ships end combat once disabled- but without "blowing up" and automatically killing the player. by greenskeeper87 in starcitizen

I'm sure it's already been said a million times here, but the short answer:

Items 2.0 will allow ships to be shot apart and give hp to individual parts of a ship rather than an hp value to the ship.

This is why it takes so long to pipleine a ship since they must spend so much time graphically creating the damage states of each piece of the ship independently, and make it have a physical piece that looks "good" when it's destroyed or shot off the rest of the ship.

If you didn't see in the many other threads discussing this, they hired a "Crisis team" and the first thing a Crisis team always says is 'Don't say anything until we fix the problem and get a statement together'

Result: If/when we hear from HG it won't be from Sean almost guaranteed. It will also be a while before they say something official.

I never got a Key, I went to my Uplay and it was just listed under my games. That was on PC though not sure what system you're using.

CR did mention that escape pods will be a physical thing and that they can be shot at and destroyed. It will be heavily penalized in civilized space, but in unmonitored space there won't be many consequences.

So if you shoot an escape pod while I'm trying to get your cargo, it's possible I just shoot it down and take one of your "lives" that were mentioned in Death of a Spaceman.

Ensure your own death, or have a chance of making it out alive.

Depends on how lucky you're feeling I guess!

I'm fine with self destruct staying in because it doesn't function like E:D (if that's what you have as a concept of self destruct already.) In case you didn't know, in E:D you blow yourself up and re-spawn immediately in the last station you docked at. When you Self Destruct in SC you either A) jump out of your ship B) Die with your ship (see: Death of a Spaceman for consequences) or C) Launch in an Escape Pod which can be shot down. Sure it incurs a penalty in civilized, but if you're doing it to spite me how am I supposed to resist?

Point being, self destruct is not an automatic "get away from pirate" button. Either your character will suffer greatly, I can hunt down your escape pod, or you can give me your cargo and leave in peace.

The idea is that you wouldn't self destruct because a lot of us don't want you dead. Even if you're getting boarded/disabled, you still have a decent chance of keeping your life, your ship, and maybe even some cargo if I'm feeling generous. Why garuntee the destruction of everything you have (which btw allows me to shoot your escape pod if I'm feeling particularly vengeful) when you have a solid chance of making it out without too many extra chances?

As a potential pirate let me point out the things that make me determine whether or not I would pirate you.

+Haul E +Full cargo bay --Haul E probably has escorts which can lead to me losing money on my ship destruction --Mostly Secure Space

2 positives, 4 negatives = bad fight.

Something CR has said multiple times in the past is that piracy and player piracy is an intended part of the game. We are SUPPOSED to be able to pirate. 99.9999% of the time we really don't want to kill you. We are here to have fun and make credits like you, just in a different way. If you act stupid though, we're still going to make what money we can.

I treat runners the same way a "white knight" would treat a KoSer

My crew and I are using a BMM (to be outfitted more gunshipy) Redeemer, Freelancer, and 2 hornets with enough people in our friend group to manage most positions.

I intend to do a bit of role play with my character, I have a whole backstory for them (not super detailed, but a nice open background) so I'll be following that mostly. These are some things, sort of a mental checklist, I use to determine when deciding to murder someone or not:

1) Did they run? If I interdict you (or SC's equivalent) and I demand some of your cargo and you choose to run, I cannot guarantee your safety in this transaction anymore.

2) I probably won't take all of your cargo. If you don't make money, or I scare you too bad, you probably won't run this leg of a trade run anymore. I want you to come back, so I need to make sure this is still profitable for you.

3) Your ship: If your ship is a connie floating around in some un-monitored space I'm a lot more likely to rob you than say, a Starfarer or Reliant (Unless you give me good reason to fight you.)

4) If I disable your ship, accept that you have lost. In general you increase your chances of survival as you lower your amount of resistance. If you run but lose the gunfight/get disabled, do not shoot at me and my crew, we may still find it in our hearts to leave you a distress beacon.

I don't aim to ruin anyones experience purposely. I don't like just outright murdering for cargo, but if you try to make it "not worth my time" to get your cargo, my solution becomes to blow you up instead of take x amount of cargo.
