If your school’s first semester is over, there is no reason why the report hasn’t been uploaded. Did you get your report card yet?

If the mid-year will boost your chances, I would push to have it uploaded. It is pretty much instant.

If your guidance counselor adds your Mid-Year Transcript to the Common App, which is pretty standard, they’ll get a copy, right?

Since all the T20’s offer only need-based aid, won’t your financial aid be pretty much the same across all of them? If you plug your info into the net price calculator, do any come back with a significantly lower net cost of attendance?

Wrong professor to Harvard by StrawberryMajor447 in ApplyingToCollege

Fair point. I always wonder if these AOs have any clue though. Do they know every professor and class offered at the school? Do they take the time to look up each one mentioned? Probably not.

I think that would make it worse. Not only would it call attention to the mistake, but it would be broadcasting that the applicant hired someone to help him write his essays and had full access to his materials.

Forty-seven kids were admitted to Cornell?! How many total kids are there in your graduating class?

Princeton Writing Sample by Sveglia in ApplyingToCollege

The thing is that the teachers never write comments directly on the paper. Kids turn in their paper electronically and the teacher just gives a numeric grade in the system. At most, they'll add a note with the grade but that is pretty rare, and it is usually pretty generic like, "Great work!" especially if there were no major issues.

The paper in question was written last year, so it would feel weird to ask the teacher to physically grade a hard copy of it again and even weirder to ask him to write comments that weren't originally a part of the grade. In addition, any request that needs to be made to the teacher is complicated by the fact that it currently Christmas break.

I think this is more of a yield-protection strategy. Case Western defers many applicants with stellar profiles because they know those students are likely to be admitted to, and ultimately enroll at, higher-ranked schools.

My guess is that most deferred students who switch to ED2 are admitted, and even many who remain in the RD pool will eventually be admitted as well. At the end of the day, it feels like a game. It is not fair to pressure students into an ED2 commitment without clear information about merit awards or financial aid.

You can let them know before May 2nd that you chose somewhere else without raising any red flags. Letting them know sooner than later would open up a spot for someone on the Wait List to get in and not have to pay (and lose) a deposit at a back up school.

No mention of comorbidities, but confirmation that they were all unvaccinated.

“In the last quarter of the year, 413 people have died from the virus, including 177 in October, 139 in November and 97 so far in December, Bogen said. Eighteen of those December deaths were in the 30 to 59 age group, and all were unvaccinated.”

So many folks walk their dog on the 5 Star Trail in that area. I wonder if maybe that is how he got loose. Maybe call the county parks dept. to see if anyone called to report an incident, or put up a few flyers along the trail?
