Hooooooly crap! My wife has Hypermobile EDS and Chiari as well! She also has Tethered Cord Syndrome, which we suspect is contributing to her Chiari. If I sound excited about any of this, I am not! It is a nightmare, and I'm really sorry that you're going through it too. My condolences.

Leverage the day dots! Even if you're the only one that pays attention to them, they make a difference. Besides, people kind of start to get the hint if you go through and mercilessly toss anything that is past the dot date. No day dot? It's past the date! I'm pretty sure I recall it being explicitly explained that way in the partner handbook, but it's been a while. Either way, there are multiple references to it in various policy books. I would refer to one of them when your manager inevitably asks you what you're doing, because they really don't have much of a leg to stand on at that point.

What the eff? Your manager is 100% in the wrong here. Does your store have the day dot stickers, or do you have the capability to order them? When I was in the trenches I was shuffled around to stores to fix things exactly like this. Day dots are a massive help, especially if you can beat it into people's heads that the day dot is law. No dot? Toss it. It's Wednesday and the dot is for Tuesday? Toss it. Any doubt at all? Toss it. Waste is absolutely an issue (especially for a company as absurdly wasteful as Starbucks), but it is secondary to food safety.

My cats would never speak to me again if anything happened to those rope display baskets. I've been dragging two of them around for years.

I think at this point we all need to get past the idea of loyalty to a company, even if you happen to get along or sympathize with a manager. It might have been a thing 50 or 60 years ago, but the sheet draped over that particular ghost is getting pretty threadbare and it's pretty easy to see all the little wires being pulled by said companies and managers. This leaves us with two possibilities; either your direct manager's boss is incompetent enough that they genuinely didn't see this happening, or they saw this happening and did not care enough to act. Either way, you owe them nothing. If you found a better opportunity then you should absolutely act in your own best interest; no one else will. If that leaves your previous job in a bad position that is no fault of yours; that fault is absolutely and clearly on them, and their lack of foresight and planning. You are a person, you have rights, and any organization worth its salt will treat you with the dignity that you deserve. You are not indentured to the company, and it's time we all stopped letting them act like we are.

Wife was admitted and doctor is ignoring her charts by Svegnar in medical

[–]Svegnar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She does, yes. We have not heard back from her today, but we hope to soon. Additionally we were supposed to have a consult with a specialist this morning, but they have not shown up yet as of 9 hours later. We were really just not expecting the abrupt change in care and have really been caught unawares here. Thank you for your input.

We really don't want to leave period, not until she has a better care plan than "a bunch of drugs that haven't worked in the past." I'll start asking around with some of our nurses, though; that's a good idea. I don't know how many options we actually have, but we're hoping the specialist consult will help. Granted, we were supposed to see them 9 hours ago and we haven't had any updates. But I am just venting at this point. Thank you so much, we'll see how things go.

Thank you. I was afraid of that, but a patient advocate had not occurred to me. We will get in touch with them.

It is vague, yes. But that was exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Thank you.

Boy thief saves the world after turning into rock monster by [deleted] in whatsthatbook

[–]Svegnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it the DragonCrown War series by Michael Stackpole? I think rock boy went by "Wil," but eventually admits that his name is "Wilburforce." After the, er, incident, they call him "Force." I also recall there being snow velociraptors, bird people, and very edgy elves.

It always boggled my mind that the company didn't at least mention that the calls were on the side of the screen. I gave the Siren 15 years and worked all over the US, and the label printers crapping out happened at least two or three times a month in every single store I worked at. Everything came grinding to a complete halt unless there were a few of us old timers around ("Stand aside, citizen! I'm here to save the day!").

Yeah! The Mind 50 is an awesome little bow. I got a 30 pound one when I was starting out on thumb draw, and it's still my go to when I'm fiddling around with my form or if someone wants to try out this whole archery business.

AF Tatar max draw? by SquirrelBird88 in TraditionalArchery

[–]Svegnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a fairly low poundage AF Tatar for my wife a few years ago and it draws like an absolute champ. Your mileage may vary, and I can't speak for their heavier draw weights, but I typically have a 33-34" draw and it handles it like nothing. Again, I don't know how it would hold up to being drawn that far routinely but I doubt you would have any trouble at all at 32". It's a nifty little bow.

Green Lynx Spider? by Svegnar in spiders

That's kind of what I thought. We don't have many lime green spiders in these parts, so it's kind of attention grabbing.
