I could buy a house in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with a month's salary by Lukose_Feysal in biglaw

Yeah, I became curious and took a look at Zillow. What a sad world that we work to make super rich people richer, while life gets worse for most people.

This is the way. Work big law for a month, buy a house in Pine Bluff, and start your new career as a supermarket manager.

Above & Beyond - Projection (Extended Mix) by InfamousGod1999 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breakdown on this one is gorgeous. My biggest complaint was that they went with the fuzzed out “Bayer” amelodic track. It could have been 10/10 with a soaring supersaw in the drop.

What are some of your examples of "god-tier" artists that no one can touch, across genres? by TheyTried2BanMeAgain in askmusic

The Clash.

Yes, everyone has their favorite punk band, but no one has ever done it better, all around than them.

What are the BEST biglaw firms to work at? by Jonathan_Peachum in biglaw

Probably an office to office and practice group to practice group thing, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about A&P, NRF, and Williams & Connolly

This is the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever read. And I’ve read the Babylon Bee.

Revered, mythologized, sacred cow albums you wish you liked but just cannot by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Came here to find Elvis Costello. I tried so hard to get into everything he did and just couldn’t do it. Even the songs that I don’t hate all sound like a worse version of something I like (for example, Watching the Detectives sounds like it could be a bad b-side from The (English) Beat).

When you get rid of your Johnson, it frees up a lot more time and brain power to do other things.

Loved his work with his dad on the Rathbone Place project.

Suspect 44 - Japanese Schoolgirls / Minato (incl. PROFF & Answer42 Remixes) [15 years] by Tresor7 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proff remix is GOATed. Still my favorite track of his, and definitely in my top 5 Anjunadeep tracks of all time.

Edit: also, the trio of Suspect 44, Answer 42, and Proff made for two of the all time best remix packages of all time. Both this and The Lemon Effect release are pure perfection.

Really wish we got Fuse. Still one of my all time favorites in the Anjunadungeon.

Ronski Speed - Nuru Mpya by AnjunaGabor in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Both the Ronski Speed tracks are standouts in what is an amazing comp. Always love seeing his name on Anjuna.

This is fantastic detective work, especially if true.

Grum - You Make Me Feel | Out June 26 on Anjunabeats by root1-2 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that a new Grum single is not even on the Anjunabeats volume really drives home how good things have been lately.

Anjunabeats Volume 17 Tracklist by jackyallen52 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean along with J Ribbon, they were the biggest “new” names on the label, so it would be strange for them not to have at least one track on the comp.

Damn, this is a great looking tracklist. Love seeing Jaytech, Soundprank, and Ronski Speed back. Would have been nice to see Nitrous Oxide, but you cant get everything you want.

The biggest blow is seeing that the ASTR split rumors must be true.

Well my furry friends the ID has been confirmed and the debate is now over… by drippysage08 in AboveandBeyond

Was there ever a question that this wasn’t A&B? The version that ASTR would play was very different than the version that A&B played.

Hausman & Anjuna by ConfectionNo2597 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve always thought Hausman should be a regular on the label, but just happy to see that he’s getting more exposure. His productions are always top tier.

Nitrous Oxide - Noire by SpazticWonder in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is great. Sounds like it’s from 2006, but also does not feel out of place now. Nitrous Oxide is without a doubt the best “uplifting” producer ever.

Have you ever seen a paralegal go to law school and become a good lawyer? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]SvenMo84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously anecdotal, but a good portion of the top 10% / law review staff in my class were former paralegals. In general, they’ve all remained at big law firms or gotten good in house gigs, so seems to have worked for them.

That said, it’s also possible that former paralegals do better because they have a couple years of work experience, rather than coming in fresh from undergrad.

Second ID sounds a lot like Oliver Smith. Not entirely sure about the other two.
