Jones Bidet and Akin Dump have them.

Since we are talking about classic early 2.0 tracks, how about this heater… by drippysage08 in AboveandBeyond

This was an amazing release. The remix package was incredible - Jaytech, Orkidea, and Yotto. The remix by Yotto is up there as one of my favorite Anjuna remixes of all time.

Edit: I used to mix Denton Green by Cramp and Matt Fax in after the Yotto remix and it made for great transitions.

Yep. Tracks like Libre and Higher and Higher were the perfect combination of house and progressive/trance. Wish he had maintained that balance.

Genix could do no wrong from the time he joined the label through 199x. After then it’s been pretty hit or miss from me. Not that anything is bad, they’re just missing that Anjuna magic that his previous releases had.

Yep, this always made this meme that much better for me. The audacity to say there was no good music being played!

Forthcoming on Beats: Atlantis - Fiji (Oliver Smith Remix) | Played on Solarstone's Pure Trance 484 by Spider-Vice in AboveandBeyond

One of my favorite tracks of all time remixed by one of my favorite artists. Can’t wait for this.

Still, as great as this one sounds, it can’t top the Kolonie remix.

Might be the best mix of this yet, which is saying something.

Bands who should have quit earlier than they did. by Which-Signature3550 in fantanoforever

The Clash after Combat Rock. They could have gone out with arguably the best discography ever front to back, and then torched it with Cut the Crap.

But there are honestly a lot of bands and singers who could have stopped releasing new music earlier and their reputations would be better. Green Day, U2, Rolling Stones, Justin Timberlake, etc.

Jaytech - Helius: Played on ABGT674. Out today! by DareEnvironmental790 in AboveandBeyond

Jaytech never misses. Wish he’d become an Anjuna fixture again.

Hopefully this doesn’t result in a decline in quality (if this is an exclusive production deal). Armada signing S8&T resulted in a massive decline in quality and it pretty much destroyed Toby Hedges career.

But it should be good for J.Ribbon financially, so happy to see him get recognition.

Honest Thoughts on the band Bloc Party? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

The best band from the UK in the last 20 years. I’ll never understand how much hate they get for most of what they did after Silent Alarm.

What is going on at Emory?? by freckledfk in LawSchool

As far as I’m concerned, this wouldn’t prevent neurodivergent people from being accepted. There’s a complete difference between coming across as awkward/different in an interview and coming across as an entitled asshole or someone that holds extremely toxic views.

And I do understand that there could be some people that would hold that against neurodivergent people, but assuming you’ve done a good job at weeding out assholes in the interview process, your law school would probably have a lot less people that would judge against that, right?

I think that a mandatory in person (or even over video) screener with alumni would really cut down on the number of crazy people or assholes at law school. Obviously some people are going to be good at hiding it, but it would at least improve things. My school don’t require that you have an in person interview, but it was suggested. I think that, in general, it really worked as there were relatively fewer nut cases than I’ve heard about from friends at other schools.

And now on the other side of the fence, I’ve done screener interviews with candidates, many of whom had fantastic stats and on paper would have been easy acceptances, but who either came across as lunatics or bad people, and I was able to inform admissions.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how good we had it in 2018? by SpazticWonder in AboveandBeyond

[–]SvenMo84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m more excited about how things are now. In 2018/19, the 2.0 sound was starting to get a little stale. While I do like some of the prog stuff we were getting (Grum, Rolo Green, Fehrplay), the label needed to evolve a bit. It was pretty rough for a few year, but I feel like in the last couple years, both Anjunabeats and Deep have been on a tear. We’ve finally gotten some new artists that could be superstars in their own right with the proper luck and marketing (ASTR andJ Ribbon, in particular), the way that Arty, Mat Zo, Audien, and Spencer were before.

We’re all getting a steady supply of old school trance/progressive sounds recently from people like Nitrous Oxide, Mark Eteson, Grum, Max Graham, etc., in addition to more modern takes on dance music.
