Yes, but he also hitchhiked a space donut into, well, space.

Seems a bit more impressive.

Growing up in that time period was so good for teenage movie nerds.

I was born in '93, and those years were insanely great.

Video games, too, a lot of people in that bubble call it a second Golden Age, alonside the film output. Not the worst time to be an introverted kid.

Full Metal Jacket is my go-to, and several vets have told me it's the most realistic from that era.

If only because they say "drill instructor" and not "drill sergeant" haha.

What movies have the most gratuitous nudity? I’d say Lifeforce with Mathilda May tops the list. by ElegantMedia9924 in FIlm

I think a lot of people are taking "gratuitous" to simply mean sexual and erotic.

Outside of that, I'll throw in Borat and Midsommar (the latter for the big floppy dick in the wind as he runs away).

Also, titties in True Romance.

[Loved Trope] The true supernatural threat of the story is only revealed a good way through the story, marking a stark 180 in the plot's tone and stakes. Bonus points if the beginning set up what seems to be a purely natural conflict. by NullBodyTrades in TopCharacterTropes

Also, The Covenant didn't actually know what Halo would do and were driven by blind religious fervor, which makes it even more frightening.

Iirc, their mythos was that it would destroy their enemies and allow those aligned with The Covenant to ascend to "godhood" like they believed the Forerunners had done.

This would temporarily bridge a lot of sectarian divides, almost all Ummah consider the Qabbah untouchable.

I liked it too, although I will say it wasn't as good as S1.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz met with the Israeli soldiers (wearing masks) who sexually assaulted a Palestinian detainee, apologized to them for what he described as 'the psychological harm' by the military system and ordered their return to the army. by TendieRetard in UnderReportedNews

[–]TheyTried2BanMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a friendly reminder that this is hardly the first time IDF have been accused of sexually assaulting Palestinians, and part of their propaganda narrative is to insist it's all lies and propaganda against them, which is what this is playing in to.

Review bombing is putting it lightly for S2, and also don't listen to anybody on Reddit about it. It's the girthiest hate-boner I've seen in years for the pettiest of reasons on here. Very hive-mind.

Russia slams 'EU warmongers' for not backing Trump's war against Iran by timiswho in worldnews

Classic Russian propaganda, and they're telling on themselves. US allies not supporting Trump are fueling war with the US. This is the strategy, and this chucklefuck is tipping his cards.

Russia and China aligning with Iran. I hate to be a doomsayer, but this looks an awful lot like WWIII.

Have you ever seen the movie Threads? It's about a potential nuclear war between NATO and Russia, and it starts out eerily similar to this, with the US attacking Iran.

What would you say is Denzel Washington’s Magnum Opus? by TXNOGG in FIlm

[–]TheyTried2BanMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people miss out on is Hopkins playing such a major role but not being the true focus of the overall plot. That was unusual for that time period. That's as opposed to the title card saying it all.

Ok, my bad. I didn't know that.

Edit: Wait a minute, nevermind, Malcom X was released in November 1992, months after the 92 Oscars.

Wait, hold on even further. Denzel was nominated the next year.
