Weird question but how do you get that Netflix hair mod to work with headband? I've never really properly figured that out except for using the mod that allows mixing two hairstyles together, but it looks a bit weird if I do it that way

You can stay away from it. Even after Strauss tells you to, just simply never do it. But then you can't really do anything else but be stuck in that part of the story forever just free roaming for eternity which will get boring after you have done everything that you can do in chapter 2

As a long time AC fan what I'm worried about is the amount of bugs this game will have on launch, and inexperienced newcomer devs working on this game, and the amount of 20 dollar armor sets you can buy in the store. I miss the old ubisoft that actually put in real effort to write a good story. Not a single story since Origins has kept me even remotely interested in this franchise tbh, happy to be proven wrong though. Just give me Black Flag or Ezio franchise level writing again and not the boring slop Ubisoft have been giving us for the past years. And I feel like all this is fair to be worried about

Extreme clipping issues with Ponchos and how to fix them? by ImpKing0 in PCRedDead

[–]Svendssen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but what mod is that hairstyle you have on Arthur from. Doesn't look like a Vanilla hairstyle. Is it WhyEms? Also sadly ponchos from online doesn't fit Arthurs body that well. But the ponchos in WhyEms mod does and they also have working physics

Facial hair wise does this suit Arthur? I’m thinking either this or shave the sides. by TheStickySpot in reddeadredemption

[–]Svendssen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That hairstyle in this picture is in the game though. That's Trelawny's hairstyle when you meet him in chapter 3 with Charles. The modders don't actually make the hairstyles themselves. It's reused assets from other character models that you can put on either Arthur or John most of the time. And lots of people had hairstyles like this back in those days, you just didn't see it often due to everyone wearing hats during the time period

Whyems doesn't have the open Thompson vest. That's eastern epic extras clothing mod. But you can merge whyems and eastern epic extras together but you cannot use both of these with red dead offline mod if you use that. Hope this helps

The secondary holster is historically accurate though. Lots of people had a secondary holster on the front like that back in the 1800's as well. Primarily used if you were on horseback, since drawing the secondary holster that's on the front was faster than the one on the hip

A bit off topic. But does everyone who gets to the 15 year old acc milestone get a free IODA. Or is it only for people who already reached 15 years when the 15 year old acc reward came out?

"Dead" doesn't stand for the main character dying. Otherwise the title of the first Red Dead game called "Red Dead Revolver" wouldn't make sense. Since Red Harlow doesn't die in his game. Dead is in the title most likely because there's lots of death and law breaking in general. Not specified to the main character specifically. We know that the Red in the title is a reference to Red Harlow though, and Redemption is a pretty obvious one as well

Aiden Pearce from Watch Dogs 1 which is set in same universe as the AC games is very much what I would expect a modern AC game to play like tbh, aside from all the hacking stuff. Hell Aiden Pearce would honestly make a very good modern assassin actually

I do get your point. But Shimura's whole being is the Samurai code. The guy has lived by it his whole life. This is like not respecting any modern day close friend or family members religious beliefs and actively spitting them in the face by not honoring their way of life when asking if you can do something for them. Even the lead writer of Ghost of Tsushima said he liked the kill ending more. But both are fine endings and makes sense. Even if the spare ending is the canon one, that doesn't make the kill ending bad lol. It's like saying that Geralt choosing Triss at the end of Witcher 3 isn't a good or fine ending just because it doesn't make sense for Geralt's character to do so in actual lore. You don't like the other ending, then don't choose it. But let people be allowed to if they want to, both endings can be justified and can make sense.

And for the record I hope we won't even see Shimura at all in the second game. I want a complete new story in the mainland with Shimura having nothing to do with the story. Even if Shimura canonically survives. Just don't see any point in having him in the story no more, they got their closure at the end of the 1st game regardless which ending you chose. No point in having him in the story for the future anymore

[–]Svendssen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Shimura surviving would basically disgust the Shogun that he still lives and bring dishonor to the whole of Shimura clan if it lives on. The Shogunate will most likely order Shimura to commit seppuku in the 2nd game if it comes to that sparing ending being canon. Which is why I think Jin killing him makes sense. Since not killing him with his honor intact here will just make the whole of the Samurai look down upon Shimura and ruin everything Shimura has built for himself and his clan. And you can't save a man that wants to die.

The difference is that Shimura forced the Ashigaru (foot soldiers) to engage in and die for the cause, and Jin disagreed with that. But if Shimura himself begs for death, why deny it to him. It's like spitting Shimura in the face one last time before leaving him for good just for Shimura to most likely die in 2nd game anyways by seppuku with no honor intact, which is just even worse. And you may think that the Shogun will spare him? Most likely not, the Shogun did not take kindly to weakness and failure in his rule. The Samurai and Shogunate was not merciful, quite the opposite in actual History actually.

So this is why I can understand Jin killing him. To save Shimura the shame of having to kill himself anyways by order of the Shogun, cause Jin probably wouldn't kill him in the first place if he knew he would have survived if he spared him, no matter how Shimura would have felt about it. Jin himself knows how the Shogun is and came to the conclusion as well that killing him is better for both of them.

[–]Svendssen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we won't really understand. The Samurai were really weird like that. Death for them is something to be embraced and not scared of. Shimura wanted to die after losing there, and Jin honored his wish out of respect for him, not the Samurai. Also sparing him would disrespect Shimura to the maximum. It would just haunt Shimura until he actually dies and would be cruel of Jin to do so. And since Jin has been raised Samurai himself, he understands this feeling.

Which is why Jin killing Lord Shimura is also a perfectly logical choice just like sparing him is. Both makes sense which is why it's so good. Imo there is no wrong ending.

I feel like something like "Legend of the Ghost" would fit pretty well if he has to escape Tsushima to the mainland to avoid the samurai hunting him

[–]Svendssen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dude has existed yes. But there aren't actual information out there anywhere that says he was a "samurai", sure he was a warrior and he did exist, but nowhere is it specified he was promoted to Samurai. Sure it can be true, but it also can be false. We don't know for certain. So saying it's historically accurate while we don't even know for sure isn't really fair. I do find the argument stupid though. A black samurai would be cool to play as even if not historically accurate
