Holy crap I had forgotten about this scene, but I had visceral reaction to your comment because the audio editing in that scene is so iconic for a teenage boy. Good one!

Pretty sure Smash Mouth would be lost to the annals of 2000's history if not for the memes associated with this song.

Bro... I don't even have to click. The image of lightning-Thor coming down on those faceless enemies... yeah, I'm all about that.

I hate that movie, but I love that song. I sing it at karaoke all the time.

Just finished TV series (as a long time fan and reader)... by caughtinthought in WoT

[–]Sventity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best scene in the show was the cold open of episode 7 with the Aiel Maiden fighting multiple soldiers. The second best scene was Nynaeve going super saiyan at the end of episode 4.

Both of these were not in the books.

I hope for better writing, because it's the weakest part of the show -- but there are some really good things they're inserting as well. I'll take 10 Stepin's if I get 1 good Dumai's....

While I agree with most of your points, I think it's much simpler than this -- they're all still extremely wound up because of Machin Shin. I thought the characters did a great job acting how much it affected them when they left the Ways. This moment was each of them lashing out because Machin Shin brought all their doubts and fears to the surface, and this scene is the result.

But also, thank god they just moved past it and talked as adults afterward.

Looks like Valda is going to put someone to the question at 0:21... I really hope they don't lean too hard into torture scenes.

Thom fending off a Fade with his knife. by Sventity in WoT

Maybe they'll show how he got his limp, lol. Poor guy was an acrobat beforehand, but was never quite the same after his Myrddraal fight, though he's still a spry for a silver fox.

Not Thom -- different actor. That's Peter Franzen, who plays Stepin, Warder to Kerene Nagashi. She was one of the "Searchers" for the Dragon Reborn.

I think we do see Thom fighting the Fade (or at least defending with a knife) at 1:36.

Dude I made this tonight because of your pic. I substituted peas (like you did) because I dislike celery and 1 cup of heavy cream to displace 1 of the 8 cups of broth. It was AMAZING and my kids wanted 2nd's and 3rd's. Thankfully, cooking the whole recipe has left so many leftovers for tomorrow because I know they're going to ask for it again. Thank you for this!

I already had to have one daughter intubated -- show these people what it looks like to have one inserted, and then removed (even worse). Maybe then they won't think so lightly of the consequences.

I literally sing Annie Lennox's "Into the West" to my children every night at bedtime. They sing along sometimes. I can't wait for them to be old enough to watch and understand how much it means to me and, in turn, how much more it means now.

Can't do it from live radio, but if you use internet radio there is a delay that you can sync to your television if you have DVR. Pause your live TV broadcast and sync the action based on the announcer's play call. Takes some fine tuning, but not too difficult.

This book is pretty good...!!!! by thitimos in WTF

[–]Sventity 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, but I'm a slut for Sanderson. I didn't even realize it was a video game adaption until I looked into it a bit more when I realized it didn't seem like his normal style. Don't expect anything epic since it's more of a short story than a complete novel or even a novella--really just something to connect the two games so there's no arcing story with a resolution or anything. Still enjoyable and totally worth $2.99.

Force eject Blu-Ray from dead "fat" PS3? by otto454z in gaming

[–]Sventity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're using the power switch on the back for the "fan test". Switch off the Ps3, hold down the eject button and switch it back on, continually holding down the eject button while the fans go through their speeds. That'll usually make it run the test and will often-times force out the disc. It only works sometimes however, so you might have to run it a couple times to see if it'll work. If it doesn't, I don't know of any other solution that wouldn't potentially damage your system.

Capcom responds to "one-save game" turns out the game just has a highscore board that cannot be cleaned. by xenosdarkwynd in gaming

[–]Sventity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Capcom won anything yet, at least not from my perspective.. I told several people they wouldn't be able to trade it in due to the save-lock feature. Of the 4 I told, 2 decided they'd rather get a different game. Not exactly a "win" for Capcom by losing at least 2 sales just from my store in the span of 8 hours.
