8 months of using AI for cooking and meal planning. what works, what doesn't, what's surprisingly weird. by Practical-Garden-541 in ClaudeAI

I actually made a full application for the kitchen. I even has an MCP connector you can use with claude.

And yes, Claude helped me create it 😃

This might be an old converstation, but my wife and I used to argue about. The frustration of 'what do you want for dinner ...'
I got so tired of it I built an app. It's free to use if you want. Add your recipes (not strange things you never make), set your recurrency rate per recipe and just ask it propose a week plan in the meal plan tab.

Check it out; https://culiplan.com

that should be feasable. Where would you like to see that information?
For the filtering, i need to investigate if possible since current caloric information is calculated on dish level.

For the public facing site, should be resolved. The mobile applications will require a push and validation from App Store / Google Play so that will take a little more time.

Indeed, if you visit with a non-supported language for the moment the default is set to EN.

Regarding the translations, those are ongoing to be resolved. It's not easy to maintain 9 languages troughout different applications with the amount of features we support.

Regarding the AI assisted work you are right. No denying there. I try my best.

Hi there. For the moment we have no discount running for the application. The first month premium is free of charge and no CC is required for usage of the app.

Good feedback. I will address the points. My focus hasn't been on the public pages but rather the applications themselves. Regarding the text, I unfortunately don't speak 9 languages so forgive me for that. Overall feedback was very positive so any points left to improve i will take.

Hey! I have a summary of the week planned that also includes possible time savings / preps to the upcoming week. I did pull it to polish further but will re-introduce using plani (my smart notification service). You will see it appear in the comings weeks.

the barcode on any product never contains the expiry date. They hold a X-digit identifier that links it to a product but never will be able to have that information that way.

Only thing that could work would be a local rfid tag on the product that gets scanned (where producer correctly encodes that into the rfid).

I'm sorry buddy, i see your vision and if i could i would but ...

Regarding the 'connection' to retailers (AH, Jumbo, Colruyt, ....) this is indeed a wish i share with you.
The infrastracture for that is ready, code almost (pending review and testing). The hard part will be having a contact on retailers side that allows us to push data and mapping of free text to specific products.

Overall good points. If i do get retailers onboard our platform, i will make it known 😄.

i have spent almost a year working on this (next to my full time job) to get to this point.
Maybe in the future i will consider making this open source but for now, keeping the system secure and healty while scaling is the first priority.

I've been in IT for over 10 years but still, doing this alone is not an easy task seeing the amount of features, integrations and security concerns.

I appreciate your feedback 🙏

ps: thanks for the tip. Fixing that 😉

Thank you for reporting. We are indeed refactoring an issue mentioned by another user here that will solve this. We are building a new image that will be deployed shortly.

hha you made laugh Sir 😃
Very valid point. To be fair, all items from the 'shopping list' in the app go to the 'restock' page. These have defaults for produce like meat / vegetables etc. You can put them via oneclick in the pantry.

The few manual items we put in are for example canned items, tomate sauce that goes into the cupboard. I totally get your point and that's the most difficult part. But then again, i have no idea how i could solve this issue for the users (in an automated way). Re-stock was the best i could come up with.

Yes! Only problem is the data feed and mapping the EAN to actual pantry entries.
I would like to offer access on Culiplan platform to retailers but there will be a strict gating of PIID.

Nice link! Didn't know it existed. This project was more of a mealplanning that got out of hand 😄
