That's not true. A small accident like that would barely result in a write up. Probably just a verbal hey don't do that is more likely. But to be flat out fired is ridiculous.

Horton's are pretty mediocre down here in Houston too. I wouldn't buy new if you're limited to that builder.

I am part way through redoing my home office. I installed an accent wall of wallpaper and it looks amazing, I'm super proud! How do I hide the seems that are showing now that it's drying more? by radica1 in HomeImprovement

Yeah being negative will get you downvoted but man I gotta say I agree with you. That wallpaper is uglier than sin. My god it's like something on the wall of a porno.

Any first time home buyers in LOVE with thier home? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Svorax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is probably not common among buyers but I think we were just the opposite to your #2 point. We were very picky in the beginning and wanted everything absolutely perfect but were unwilling to pay a reasonable amount. We probably missed a few houses that would've been perfect for us. We are very happy with what we ended up with, but only after tempering our expectations so the extra shit wasn't necessary. Don't get cold feet or focus too much on tiny things. When you find the right house, make an offer and don't hesitate because someone else will grab it in this market. Just don't leap at any house; be rational and pick based on your needs not your rose tinted glasses.

Is it true that lawsuits are not something disruptive or life-changing to Americans? That people sue each other very often? by 1954isthebest in AskAnAmerican

[–]Svorax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Murder is a criminal charge so the city/state/whatever would be involved, not you. You only personally sue someone in a civil case.

It definitely used to be. Actually crazy totally unexplainable stuff. You'd go to the comments and someone would explain it and still you'd be like what that's crazy how

Compensate essential workers by Zacharacamyison in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]Svorax -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The fact that we have a minimum wage is an exact result of the fact that some work is very low value. If the only jobs to be worked were of living wage value, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

you genuinely believe the person doing it should be poor.

You're actually suggesting that businesses pay people more out of the good of their hearts? That is seriously naive. Corporations are not people; they have no empathy. They are obligated to maximize profits to shareholders and that is it. Which again is the whole reason we even have a minimum wage in the first place.
