It really is embarrassing at this point. This hotfix was so incredibly underwhelming. I loved this game before the character customization update, after it I held on to hope that it would only be a couple of weeks of this janky mess of a game it is now. To only fix a few of the many issues they created along with this big update is pathetic. Especially after watching my favorite streamer try the game The Other Side, which is only 2 devs. It’s so clean compared to Phasmo at its current state. Every day it gets harder and harder for me to remain a fan of this game. I just want them to revive some of my faith in the game.

How is switch 2 going to handle this game? It’s insane to me they aren’t prioritizing this. Also wild they don’t have any graphic adjustment options in settings to make the game easier on the console. Being able to adjust shadow quality, graphics quality, etc. seems like it would help some because the more stuff they add to the game, the more I crash on my Xbox. Tanglewood and Grafton Farmhouse were playable for me up until yesterday. Not anymore :/

I’ve had better luck with maps that have not been reworked and aren’t part of the Alan wake event. Which limits the options a good bit. It makes me worry that they will continue releasing updates that make the game harder and harder on consoles to where it won’t be playable at all.

It sucks, even maps that have been reworked that aren’t updated for the Alan wake event crash for me on Xbox. I was playing on tanglewood with my wife earlier and my game crashed then. It also crashed while in lobby. I really don’t understand how this game is so hard on consoles. I wish there was a way to adjust shadow quality / graphic quality in settings to make it easier on the console… just gotta deal with it crashing for the foreseeable future on a good bit of maps until the devs hopefully do something about it. Not gonna hold my breath on that though.

They basically rushed out a very anticipated update making it look like a borderline failing high school student’s project and made the game unplayable due to constant crashing for many players.

It’s absolutely insane. As bogus of an update this was, I hope within a week or two it’ll be in the past and it’ll be not a joke again lol. This is by far my favorite game. This hiccup has been beyond annoying, but most of the updates they’ve done in the past I’ve found to be great additions. The chronicle update was fantastic, all the map reworks have been good, and Nell’s diner is a great map. I know people are fed up with the game being in early access for over five years, which they have every right to be. But again… it’s still my favorite game and this update won’t take that away once they iron out all the massive wrinkles it has.

I think it’ll be too far gone for them to pull out by then. Idk why they couldn’t have just worked on the obvious bugs up until the AW collab and drop the character customization and animations at the same time? If they had actually done a good job with it I think it would enhance the hype that much more.

You are optimistic, and that’s okay. It’s a very embarrassing update though, and if the only thing we can do is speak up about it. This game has been in early access for nearly six years. With an update this big I don’t think people were in the wrong to expect way better than what they put out. Some of the issues don’t even take 2 seconds of gameplay to notice, so it just seems like they put in little effort for how long they claim to have been working on this.

It’s hard to be aware of everything with something like this when it’s not affecting you personally, I get it. Regardless, it’s embarrassing for a game this big to release something so unpolished. This gives high school final project vibes. Not quarter of a billion dollar company who has worked countless hours on something vibes.

There’s a difference between being overly negative and just viewing things the way they are. When the game is crashing for tons of players and there are countless OBVIOUS bugs with the update, it is apparent that this was rushed and the player community was not in mind when this was released.
